I would say one of the best gelatos I’ve had in a looong while! New favorites will be the: Flan with dulche de leche and Tramontana. Their gelatos don’t skimp out on flavors, it’s creamy and it’s fresh (it’s not old fridge tasting).

The gelato is high quality, well-made, and the perfect texture. As a mint flavor connoisseur, I can guarantee this is the best mint-flavored dessert I have EVER had (and I’ve tried many). How natural and creative to make the mint flavor using tea bags!! For those who don’t typically enjoy mint, it’s hard to judge. For those who DO, this is THE ultimate mint chocolate chip gelato! The chocolate pieces in many of the gelato flavors are also the most satisfying-not your predictable chips or chunks. You can tell the chocolate is homemade and high quality. Absolutely love FRÍO.

Flavors were amazing! Ended up with dulce de leche and dulce de leche with flan. Definitely would come back. However, the guy working there didn’t seem to enjoy his job lol. Didn’t really smile or was friendly . He seemed irritated when we were asking to try a few samples. Would have gave a 5 but due that issue, brought it down a star.

The line was literally out the door on Sunday evening – and this young guy who was by himself when we got there deserves 5+ stars alone for how fast he was and how calm he remained – truly over the top service by this young man! My family thought this was some of the best sorbet/ice cream they have had! Don’t go expecting your traditional gelato or gelato flavors -there is a definite uniqueness to their options. The flavors are really unique, ask for a sample taste -you might find something you don’t expect to like! That’s what happened to us!
Even with the long line it moved pretty quickly. Limited seating, corner location. Street parking.

4.5 stars! Great quality gelato place for reasonable prices. There are hit and miss flavors, but they have very unique and fun flavors you don’t see elsewhere. I really like that their gelato and sorbet both look natural as I don’t like food coloring. My favorite gelato place in Chicagoland area. They also have free WiFi!

On 6/7/23, I had the pleasure of tasting some of the most delicious gelato I’ve ever come across. It was fresh, made of natural ingredients, and very reasonably priced. The flavors were unique and plentiful.
Among us, my family ordered the following flavors: “Cheese & Honey”, “Egg Custard & Marsala Wine” [Sambayon], “Fig and Cognac”, lemon sorbet, mango sorbet, and vanilla.
I couldn’t even choose a favorite because each one was fantastic in its own right.

Simple gem off the main downtown area of Evanston. It’s a great location which makes it feel more like a neighborhood spot. Its not cheap….but it does make you want to say “gel-aaaaaaa-toe”! There is a small dining inside area and there are chairs outside which would be so great to sit in on a warm cozy summer afternoon and people watch.

I’ve tried many gelato before and I would recommend this one. Though the Honey and cheese is a little bit sweet for me, I still like it.
If you like something light, I would recommend you try the wine and berries! I finish it in a few minutes. I just can’t resist the special flavor.
Best of all, the price is reasonable here.

Frio Gelato is a gem in Evanston! My wife and I loved it so much that we returned for a late-night walk and more gelato. The friendly staff and high-quality gelato made it a perfect experience. You know the gelato is good when it starts melting fast, which only added to its authenticity. The weather suited the occasion, making our visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommend for a sweet treat, especially late at night!

Very very good gelato and sorbet and would highly highly recommend. You can tell that it is high quality and that was the silkiest sorbet I have ever eaten. I got the passion fruit and mixed berries sorbet which were both phenomenal. A medium sized bowl with two flavors is only $6, which is a very good price when compared to other ice cream shops in the area. Overall highly recommend, very generous scoops and amazing selection and quality.
