When I tell you this is one of the best sandwhiches I’ve ever had I mean it. I’m mad that I’ve lived in Winston for as long as I have and never had this sandwhich, this sandwhich was like love making in my mouth. It’s famous for the Reuben which I’ll definitely try next time but I got the CB or CT? It had bacon, pimento cheese, chicken and jalepenos. As someone who enjoys spice but can be overwhelmed by it at time I think this had the perfect amount that perfectly complemented the bacon and the sheer juiciness of the tomato with the mayo and the pimento cheese it was MMM. The chicken was seared perfectly and grounded the whole thing so well, keeping it from feeling too fatty or mushy despite being loaded with delicious cheese and mayo, it was the perfect amount. As I’ve been cooped up for the last week and half from the snow storm this was like finding a slushee in the desert, but reversed cause it’s been cold. Also it didn’t cost 1 million dollars for the sandwhich it was like $11 which was awesome for what you get, also service was very friendly!

Very good menu, especially if you like deli style sandwiches. You can tell they take pride in their which is reflected in how consistently great their food is. Their dessert is phenomenal as well and shouldn’t be missed!

So glad I found this gem! My new office is right down the street off Country Club and I have to say that all the great reviews I heard about O’Briens Deli were true.
Great menu and excellent service from this family owned husband and wife establishment. Personally it says a lot when the owners are hands on with the customers all day. There’s a reason why the community loves them for so many years.
Thank you!

I came here on a Thursday around noon with one other person. There was a decent crowd which further confirms how great this place is. We did not wait long to order and the food came out pretty fast. I had ordered the club with no tomato with macaroni salad. The sandwich was so fresh tasting. The macaroni salad had a tang taste to it, but I enjoyed it more than the potato salad. I might just continue trying their different side items to see what I like best. The staff were so nice and checked in on us even though they were not waiters.
Definitely my new favorite place.

Highly recommend this small business deli in Winston Salem. Many sandwich, soup, and side item options. Great service! Tables were cleaned off frequently. Gluten free friendly options (ex: bread can be gluten free, lettuce wrap, or a big pickle cut in half). They are known for their reuben and now I know why! German potato salad was delicious. Indoor and outdoor seating area. Coloring pages for kids. We will definitely be back.

Not sure where to start, awesome Little corner deli I wouldn’t call it a hidden gem, but could possibly fit the category. I had the club with a side of german potato salad and tea for thirteen dollars. Not sure you can beat that anywhere in WS for the amount of food and the quality

O’Brien’s is the kind of classic deli every city should have. It’s a small space – a few tables inside and a few tables out – but don’t let that or the line you are likely to encounter deter you. They crank out sandwiches quickly here.

Said sandwiches include about two dozen hot and cold offerings as well as the ability to build your own. The meats are Boar’s Head, but the desserts and soups are made fresh in-house. Check out the display case for salads and sides that might catch your eye.

O’Brien’s prides itself on its Reuben, and so I went with the “mini” version (a quarter rather than a half pound of meat) with a pickle for my first visit here. Ordering at the register was a breeze, and I was fortunate enough to snag one of the tables for dine-in.

Though I was a bit skeptical that the Reuben would match the hype, it delivered. I don’t know that it is without a doubt the best version I’ve had, but it is definitely up there. The grilled rye was nice and crisp, and I appreciated that they used both mustard and Russian dressing. That, plus the meat, kraut, and melty cheese, made for a very satisfying bite. At $10, the sandwich proved a good value, too.

Unpretentious and nostalgically comforting (for Northern transplants, at least), O’Brien’s is a well-oiled sandwich-slinging machine. Though that Reuben will be hard to top, I look forward to giving one of their other offerings (maybe a Cuban, maybe a Spicy Italian) a try.

I placed a takeout order over the phone. A lovely person answered the phone and made it a very easy call to place an order. Food was quick in being made. I ordered an egg salad Half BYO sandwich combo with chips and a drink. Also got a small side of macaroni salad. The sandwich bread was amazing, the veggies on my sandwich (lettuce, tomato, onion) tastes SO fresh. However, I feel like the egg salad lacks just a smitch and wasn’t a fan of the thick cheese. I’d add mustard as a condiment and take off the cheese if I was to order this again.

The macaroni salad is one of best I’ve ever tried. It has a little tang to it and doesn’t feel overly creamy. I also liked the portion size. The chips and drink were great. The service was great and I love the cozy vibe inside even if I wasn’t in there long. The front staff member was very kind. The price was good. Overall, I’d order here again with slight sandwich adjustments but definitely worth coming back.

I throughly enjoyed a French dip sandwich along with their German Potato Salad and Cucumber Salad. Employees very polite and it was clean. I’ll definitely make a return trip.
