Yum! This place is sooo good! This is going to be a new favorite for us and added into our rotation for date nights and hangouts with our friends. The food was FRESH. You can pick what you want or don’t want on your food and the vibes + atmosphere are very friendly and welcoming. The queso is DELICIOUS. Beef tacos from here are my favorite, so so so good. Look, I can ramble all day about this place but please take it from a fatty who loves food… EAT HERE!!!!
FYI only – Photos are of the beef tacos (no veggies), fish tacos and the cheesecake. The rest was eaten before we took pics

Purple Cactus Taqueria has officially become one of my favorite restaurants. This woman-owned, small local taco shop is an absolute gem. The ingredients are incredibly fresh — you can taste the quality in every single bite — and the flavors are out of this world. Their dishes strike that perfect balance of bold, vibrant, and delicious without ever feeling heavy.
The prices are surprisingly great for the quality you’re getting, which makes it even easier to come back again and again. And let me just say: enjoying a cocktail on Main Street while having dinner is such a vibe. It’s the perfect blend of cozy local charm and a night-out feel.
If you haven’t tried Purple Cactus Taqueria yet, you’re missing out. This place deserves all the praise — truly a 5-star experience every time! ✨

We are late to the party, but this place lived up to its reviews! We tried one of each taco and they were each amazing in their own way. The sweet thai chili pork and the buffalo chicken were my favorites!

What a delightful surprise we found just minutes from home. Jamie and Diana have truly delivered a first to our region. We typically drive to Charlotte for something comparable. The tacos we’re out of this world. Menu pic attached, my favorite had pulled pork and red slaw, my husband loved the shrimp but took one look at mine and ordered 2 ! The purple margarita is a specialty. There are no artificial flavors, no sweeteners, just to watch the craft behind the drink making and for them to share each step was an event in it’s self. For beer lovers. The best selection within 50 miles. Pics attached as my description simply does not do it justice.

So happy we stopped here! 5 stars are real. Shrimp tacos, salsa and margaritas were excellent . If you are traveling on Rt. 81 it’s worth the small detour.

The tacos are so good, I always order way more than I can eat! They also have really good desserts, too so don’t hesitate to try the flour less chocolate cake. It’s perfect. The chicken tikka masala is my favorite and I love the Cuban beans and rice. Only place I can get a taste of home in the NRV ♡

We really enjoyed this place and can’t wait to go back! It’s a great addition to the area, offering something different you can’t find nearby.
My husband got the shrimp taco and the tikka masala taco, with a side of rice and beans. I got the fried chicken taco and the Thai chili pork taco, with a side of chips and salsa. Everything was fresh and flavorful. We both got purple cactus margaritas, which have got to be the best margaritas in the county. We will definitely go back next time we’re in town visiting family. I hope the locals support this place.

We embarked on a road trip from Atlanta to New York for Labor Day weekend. As we approached the Virginia area, our hunger pangs struck. I searched for restaurants nearby and stumbled upon Purple Cactus Taqueria, boasting a 4.9-star rating. A taco joint, it was an obvious choice. We added it to our GPS and headed towards the small town of Pulaski (pronounced “Pew-laski”).
As we drove slowly through the town, which seemed to have a population of around 1000 people, I couldn’t resist the urge to explore. The town’s charm piqued my interest, and I eagerly anticipated what it was known for.
Finally, we arrived at the newly renovated storefront of Purple Cactus Taqueria. The walls were adorned with local art, and ample seating provided a cozy atmosphere. We were the only customers except for the owner, operator, and the cashier.
We ordered two traditional beef tacos each, with me opting for a fried chicken taco and my husband trying a Thai-inspired taco. The menu offered a wide variety of non-alcoholic beverages, as well as a full bar for those who preferred adult drinks.
The food was delicious, and the service was attentive. I observed locals coming and going, particularly a kind-hearted woman holding the longest squash I’ve ever seen. She shared her passion for growing squash and her anticipation of making a tasty butternut squash soup once it matured.
These interactions and experiences were exactly what I live for.
If you’re near Pulaski, Virginia, make sure to stop by Purple Cactus Taqueria and indulge in their tacos. You won’t be disappointed!
