Reviews
This was easily one of the worst meals I’ve had not just in Mandan, but in the whole country.
This place rides on nostalgia and reputation — because the actual experience is flat-out bad.
The food was greasy, flavorless, and barely warm, like it was rushed out just to clear a ticket. The fries were limp and soggy, and the main dish had zero seasoning and absolutely no care put into it. It tasted mass-produced and reheated, not freshly cooked.
Service was just as disappointing. Our server looked annoyed to even be at the table, disappeared for long stretches, and never once checked to see if the food was okay — which it very clearly wasn’t. We had empty drinks and dirty plates sitting in front of us longer than it took to get the food.
The restaurant itself felt worn down and neglected. Sticky tables, a generally grimy feel, and an atmosphere that screams coasting instead of improving. I did see a few roaches on the floor.
For what they charge, this is embarrassing. There are way better local spots in Mandan that actually care about what they put on a plate.
Brutally honest:
This place must survive on its name — not its quality.
I WILL NOT BE BACK
Meal type: …
We’re from Florida, and every time we find ourselves in Bismarck, one thing is non-negotiable: Kroll’s knoephla soup. This isn’t just a bowl of soup—it’s pure Midwestern comfort in liquid form. Thick, creamy, loaded with tender potatoes and those doughy little dumplings that somehow taste like childhood and a warm hug at the same time.
