You better like sour and spicy then you will love here!
Food very fresh and have table next to food cart to enjoy the food.
Homemade hot sauce, sticky rice and Lao sausage are fantastic match!
Laab sour and spicy love it!
Will definitely visit again
Pros:
I love the crab rangoon, which they call “Mon Thai”. Its cheesy, not too crabby (I’m not a fish lover so these are great), with some nice seasoning and the way they’re wrapped is different and yummy.
Their popcorn chicken is to die for, in my opinion.
The Thai sausage was good, a different taste and texture than the sausage I’m accustomed to.
The Tom Kha soup is good. It has lots of white mushrooms. There are no tomatoes, which make this version stand out with a white broth compared to other similar places that serve a red broth. It has too many onions though. The amount of onions is sooooo excessive.
I’ve tried both jerkies. This is also a food that I’ve never encountered elsewhere. I’m not exactly sure why and what the difference is, but I’ve determined I like the Thai version better. All I can say for sure is that the Thai jerky is topped with white sesame seeds while the Lao version is not. The jerky is a bit overpriced in my opinion, for the amount they serve. However, jerky is expensive anywhere you go. I think they could lower the price or give more per order since it’s homemade, fried beef. The amount I’ve gotten in different orders has been inconsistent, which could possibly be due to supply chain issues. Maybe they weigh it, but I think that maybe they didn’t have enough (see “cons” section re: food availability).
The Mango sticky rice is so good. You get a good sized portion and there is plenty of coconut cream sauce.
Compared to other places that offer similar foods, Lao & Thai Kitchen is more affordable.
Cons:
They run out of food. I ordered online and received my order without an item. They canceled it without even calling me to see if I wanted an alternative. In subsequent orders I specified to call me if there out of something, and they did.
In fact, the last 2 times I have ordered (on two days in a row), they had NONE of my choices available. I ordered around 3 or 4pm, so I thought that maybe they didn’t get their shipment of food versus an end-of-the-day, “we ran out” scenario. My last order was Popcorn chicken and Mon Thai x 2. I had to cancel the complete order and was so bummed. I honestly haven’t tried ordering since, but writing this review is making me want to attempt to taste some of my favorites again.
The availability also affected their beverages. I ordered Coca-Cola, but all they had one day was Diet Coke. Their Thai tea is comparable to other similar places.
All in all, just thinking about their food has me salivating! I’m sure I’ll be placing an order again very soon, and hoping the potential supply issues have been remedied and they have what I want.
I do recommend this food cart due to their original, unique offerings (ie: jerky, white Tom Kha, differently wrapped crab rangoon/Mon Thai) despite the issues I’ve described above. Im hoping it was a temporary issue that is now resolved.
Yum yummy yum.
Plus the owners treat me like family!
