I have got to gripe about my favorite sandwich and I hate having to do this. But I drove 29 miles (31 minutes) to go to Lacy’s because I had a craving for a ham & cheese and after I paid almost $25 for two “sandwiches”,
I AM STILL CRAVING A LACY’S HAM & CHEESE SANDWICH!!
When did they get so little? Especially for the price!!??!! My pickle is almost as big as half of the sandwich. And no garlic butter on the bread and the bread was too hard to bite through. It was just a waste of time, time that could have been spent with my family. Today could have been an off day for them, I truly hope so because I normally always enjoy their food.

This place is historic. I’ve been eating here ever since I was a kid. I live in Jasper, but will drive out to carbon Hill just to get a ham and cheese. I would crawl over glass for their ham and cheese. The pizza is good, but the ham and cheese is god tier.

Haven’t made the trip in several years. Rumor was that the ham and cheese was changed & wasn’t as good as the old days. I was pleasantly surprised. The infamous Ham Sandwich has changed slightly but was still fantastic. While the writing on the walls might seem janky, the restaurant looked nice and clean. I will return for a pizza next time!

Looks like something out of a an old movie. The ham and cheese sandwich was incredible. Just order it…you won’t regret it. Thankful a friend took me to lunch there.

Case was very helpful. Everything was delicious! They even have gluten-free pizza, cauliflower crust, that is highly praised.
Good prices and great atmosphere.
I would definitely eat here again.

Uninspiring place despite its rave reviews here with locals fawning over what I would classify as overpirced (almost $30 for a mini-pizza, ham & cheese sammich + 2 drinks?) mediocre food in a small-town quaint, yet dingy, atmosphere. Staff was friendly, service was quick, but experience failed to live up to the hype of me driving 20 miles “to see what it’s all about”.

The Pizza Bar is not only a local favorite – it’s widely known and visited by travelers from all over. It looks like a hole in the wall restaurant from the outside, and the inside has an older look to it as well, but that is just part of its charm.

They have more than just pizza. In fact, one of the main things they are known for is the ham and cheese sandwich. I was hesitant to try one as it just didn’t seem like my thing, but I was shocked by how great it tasted. They serve it hot and the bun is slightly crispy.

For some reason, potato wedges are called “Jo-Jo” here. They taste great as well. They also sell several types of cookies up front. The service is great and one of the chefs even came out and talked to us after we ate. I highly recommend it!

Went here for the first time the other day. I had been wanting to try their famous ham and cheese sandwich. I used to love the ham and cheese from slick lizard back in the day and had high hope that this would be as good. However, I was disappointed as it was not hot and just seemed to be missing something. Wife and kids got pizza’s and they were okay. If I am in the area again I might give it another try but I am probably not making a special trip for it. I did love that they had a painting of my family’s sawmill on the back wall.

So worth the trip to this out-of-the-way place. I had the half ham & cheese, their specialty, and my husband had the half cheeseburger. We also had 24-hr slaw & spicy Jojos (seasoned potato wedges). Everything we had tasted fantastic and was made with quality ingredients. It is very reasonably priced for more than we could eat. Although it’s probably considered “fast food”, everything is cooked to order so you will have a bit of a wait to get your hot, fresh meal. The staff was friendly, helpful & acted truly glad we were there. We will most definitely visit again any time we’re in the area.

The bbq salad was kind of a basic salad. It had lettuce, a little bit of cheese, and a few diced tomatoes with a good portion of bbq on top. But people do not come here for the salads. Husband got the ham and cheese sub and loves it! And it is apparently a famous sandwich in this area.
