***Service is excellent.
**Prices are decent.
*Food is meh-
– – Salmon on the Nova Benedict was the grossest “smoked salmon” I’ve ever had. Overly old-fishy tasting, rubbery texture of undercooked fish. I LOVE smoked salmon. Sent it back. Replaced with a Florentine which was just ok.
– -Hollandaise sauce there used to be delicious: buttery, lemony, creamy; perfect. Now tastes like margarine and is oddly a little spicy. Used to be my go-to place for a good Benedict.
– -Hash browns were very lightly cooked- no crisp- but good taste.
– – French toast was good (tho icky cheap “whipped cream” with colored sprinkles!?) bacon was good, switched eggs for country potatoes, which were good
– – Coffee here has always been weak and meh; I asked once if they had an espresso machine and was told yes- no evidence of that in the mochas, which were weak and too sweet.
Lively atmosphere and clearly the current clientele enjoy the food. Not us anymore tho.
The beer was awesome. I forgot its name but it had added shot. Rank: 10 out of 10 to the drink.
The owner was super nice, polite and friendly. These 3 stars mainly belong to her excellent customer service, however the employees were not welcoming at all.
I prefer not mentioning our bad experience with the employees attitude in detail.
I think I might know why they’re not experiencing their glory days.
Firstly, in a time of inflation, it’s understood that prices will go up. Fine but you raise the prices and reduce the amount of meat so for $30 I got a handful of bagged greens, a few white dots of feta and a few pieces tiny squares of tomatoes and some seed oil without lemon or herbs. No feta, no peppers, no olives and not even romaine. I saw a salad pic from a review just 6 months ago and it included all of the ingredients but not on my salad today. Also no pitas or tzaziki is included with the Greek gyro salad. I had to order an extra order of gyro because what they offer you would not be registered as protein in your body. I regret this, every bite of the gyro contained pieces of cartilage or something unswallowable and had to spit it out. Judge for yourself from the pic of the “gyro.”
John’s of Willow Glen has outside and inside seating, the out side seating is at a premium (hard to get) but there is plenty of inside seating. The inside is cozy and not to loud.
We were seated, given menus, water and lemon for our water within 5 min.
My friend ordered the mediterranean steak salad (he said it was really good)
I ordered the Gyro salad with Italian dressing and the lemon soup. The soup flavor was good, I’ve had better but really was not to bad 3 stars. The Gyro salad with cucumbers, tomatoes,Gyro meat, lettuce, Kalamata olives, feta cheese and leafy greens was amazing 5 stars.
The service though super fast and on point could have been more personable 3 stars. (Don’t know why it’s so hard for some people to smile especially when we’re smiling at you) but I digress overall I definitely recommend John’s of Willow Glenn and I will definitely be back…..,, now about that smile….
Surf and turf the filet and prawn with mushrooms cream sauce. Chilean Sea bass pre good. Chipotle ribs so good boq mild perfect to family dinner.
Normal, nothing is amazing but it’s breakfast food so it’s find.
Their chicken wings however was cold do that was pretty bad.
Overall breakfast alone it is fairly priced and worth a visit if local.
Really cant tell you much because i m completely amazed with their service, their food and polite staff.
They sure showed sense if urgency serving their patrons.
