Reviews
This was my wife’s and my second visit to this restaurant. We were very impressed the first time – especially since oyster pancake was on the menu. This dish is classic Taiwanese street food, and the version at this restaurant is very good. This time around, we went with more dinner type dishes including twice cooked pork, pork kidney in Mala sauce, soup dumplings and ox tail soup. We also ordered the picked cucumbers again. All the dishes were very flavorful with the pork kidney being my favorite. The twice cooked pork was tasty but I noticed the cooks added sliced pieces of scallion pancake to the dish. This seemed unusual and struck me as a cheap filler versus including more pork slices. The dish was still tasty but scallion pancakes don’t belong in this dish.
Service was efficient with three servers easily handling the small but filled dining room. And as a nice touch, the bathrooms were pleasantly spacious and clean, which is usually not the case in moderately priced non-chain restaurants. Definitely a very good place and worth a return visit despite the miss on one dish.
Atmosphere & First Impressions:
The decor is traditional and the seating is cozy, giving the restaurant a warm, inviting feel. When we sat down, we were served Oolong tea, which was a lovely surprise — warm, unsweetened, and flavorful, the kind of tea that doesn’t even need sugar.
Service:
The service was fast and attentive. Our server made us feel comfortable, and the menu included English descriptions, which was super helpful for navigating dishes we might not be familiar with. Without them, we might have felt a bit overwhelmed or out of place.
Food:
We ordered:
Scallion pancakes – classic and exactly what you expect: crispy outside, flavorful inside.
Beef skewers – perfectly seasoned and cooked.
Beef chow foon – looked just like the picture and tasted just as great; noodles were cooked perfectly.
Pork soup dumplings – warm, juicy, and delicious. My husband rated these a 10/10.
Salt and pepper chicken – hot, crisp, and flavorful.
We were so excited to eat that I forgot to take pictures of the entrees. I only managed to take pictures of the tea, dumplings, and scallion pancakes, and even then, only halfway through!
Portions were generous, perfect for family-style dining. Everything came out hot and well-prepared, showing attention to detail and quality.
Value & Convenience:
For $54 for two people, we left completely full, making this a very reasonable option for authentic Taiwanese cuisine. It’s also a fantastic choice for Chinese food without venturing into downtown Boston and dealing with traffic.
Overall:
Taipei Cuisine delivers a solid Taiwanese experience — flavorful food, warm tea, quick service, generous portions, cozy seating, and a menu that’s easy to navigate for non-locals. We’d definitely return for another meal and recommend it to anyone craving authentic Taiwanese dishes in the Quincy area.
There might be a wait if you stop by during peak hours. Parking shouldn’t be an issue. You can park on the street or park at the city free parking lot across the street. Lastly, their servers are super fast and friendly.
Two things that I hope the restaurant can improve:
1. May want to use Jasmine tea for their hot tea
2. Try different version of chili oil
Overall, we are happy with this restaurant and highly recommended!!
We got the cucumber in chili sauce. It was a good hit of sour and spicy.
The cabbage dumplings were flavorful and juicy. The scallion pancakes were crispy and not oily. We got the Dang dan noodles with peanut sauce. I’m a bit disappointed. Lack with flavor. We got the grilled fish with tomato sauce. The fish cooked perfectly. The tomato sauce compliments the fried fish. I would definitely order the grilled fish with tomato sauce again.
