There were maybe 6-7 people waiting for mobile orders for 30+MINUTES meanwhile we all watched people walk in, place orders and leave in a couple minutes. What is the point of ordering ahead if you are not given any priority and there is zero effort to ensure it’s ready when it claims, or even in a reasonable timeframe?
I ordered a single burrito bowl at 1:30 and was told it’d be ready at 1:40, I showed up a little after and find several others waiting. The majority of the staff (3-4 people) were helping the in-store order customers, while ONE person was in the back working on all drive thru and mobile orders, with one other floating and trying to keep everyone happy (she was very helpful but clearly stressed and backed up). This concept that mobile orders are a completely secondary thing, and all the focus is on the in-person orders makes zero sense. The entire point of mobile orders is that you get extra time to dedicate to them and can just work through them between other orders. It takes max 3min to make an order in-person, 10-15min for online should be more than enough.
The fact mobile orders are quarantined off to a separate section (the drive thru section) makes no sense, but likely is an SOP from corporate – BUT PULL PEOPLE OFF THE LINE TO HELP. There shouldn’t be all hands on deck for people in store who walked in because they aren’t urgently awaiting their orders and don’t mind standing a few minutes. Mobile orders are specifically a thing for people who order ahead and want to skip lines and likely have limited time (like a lunch break they need to get back from). Take one just one person off the line and put them on mobile as backup, help that poor girl get stuff done. She was backed up and mostly alone, and she was so rushed that she was sacrificing quality for speed. I watched her shoveling orders into dishes just trying to not get customers upset. The result is protein and beans that aren’t getting strained, so you end up with basically a soup bowl or a wet burrito. Mine was overflowing with chicken grease/water and got all over my clothes the moment I opened the lid.
Again this is NOT the food prep worker’s fault. This is a management issue. Anyone with a brain and eyes could look around and go “people who just walked in 5 seconds ago shouldn’t be leaving with their orders before the person who’s been waiting for 25min… they should move someone over to help with those orders and ask the in-store customers for a little patience”. But nope, now I’m late getting back to my job, and I’m sure others lost money on extremely late uber/doordash orders.
I know lunch time is stressful and none of you make as much money as you probably should, but management is everything and it’s why yall get paid more, so do better managing.
UPDATE: i called the official customer service and they were very helpful, the app not really.
I got a burrito bowl and there was quite an amount of meat in there and they did well on the beans and fajita peppers as well. I asked for just a little bit of the salsas and they really got that amount right. And the bowl wasn’t too spicy or mild.
Husband got a burrito and It was a lovely little baby. He got a mix of barbacoa and chicken and I tried some of it and was actually quite a delicious burrito.
I think one thing I noticed is that the steak in my bowl had quite a decent amount of fatty pieces and some chewy ones too. They were tasty though, but I was just hoping for a little more lean meat and less chewy meat.
There were two guys and a girl that were working this Friday around 5pm.
Been eating at Chipotle forever, the BEST EXPERIENCE so far!
