It’s been years since we returned. Quality of ribs not good. Very dry, and hardly any sauce on ribs. We were asked if we wanted extra sauce. No dinners rolls were delivered. We were seated at 610p, hardly anyone in the restaurant. Servers need to pay attention to detail if they want return guest. I don’t think we will return. Aloha.

My mom wanted to come here for lunch for her birthday. She was pretty excited as she never gets to eat ribs because my dad is not really a fan of them.

Nothing on their menu seemed appetizing to me. Literally nothing. My mom ordered a whole rack of ribs and I got the lunch special which was about a third of the rack of ribs (although I’m sure they claim it to be a half rack). My mom got the coleslaw and baked potato and I think I had mashed potatoes and green beans or something like that. If I sound unsure, this is why…

I wasn’t impressed. There was about nothing special about the ribs or their sides. The one good thing I can say about them was that the meat came off the bones quite easily and there were no burnt parts. My mom thoroughly enjoyed them though. She ate the whole rack!
I definitely won’t be back on my own. Of course, if that’s where my mom wants to go again next year then that is where I will take her though.

It was empty compared to the place we were headed and decided to give it a shot. We sat down and were ready to order our food at the same time we were ordering drinks. We had to remind our waiter for our drinks. First item that came to the table was a Cesar salad… It was drenched in dressing and looked disgusting. I sent that plate back. We got our plates and nothing was hot. My wife returned her plate because her food was not even warm… My food was also room temp… But I decided to eat my ribs and beans as is… At some point our waiter just stopped coming and the assistant manager stepped in. She was very attentive and took care of the rest of our needs.

First of all we literally just left this specific location and for reference both my mother and I are servers so we understand the business. We came even though the reviews that we read weren’t the best for service. Food was awesome but service was absolutely horrible. We ordered drinks and food at the same time. We waited 20 minutes for water, and 20 minutes AFTER that for my side salad and to be told there was no more bread which the bread wasn’t a big deal but side salad? Come on. 45 minutes after being sat we got our food. Never was checked on and then 10 minutes after finishing our food still no server. I tried catching his eye but he actually walked right by and outside. I then followed him out and he was to far down the parking lot. Had to get the check from the busser. When we left he was still sitting out smoking and I said hey thanks for the check! The table of 5 adults and 4 kids waited a half hour for drinks because they ran out of cups, Same with the table next to them of two. Oh you ask how I noticed this? Remember I said I waited 20 minutes for a water. That table with the 4 kids complained that everything was burnt. This place needs a management and server retraining program. I’ve also never wrote a review before. This is showing how crappy this place was.

Not impressed by the drive at all. And things are fairly costly. For $20-$30, I expected much better trading food. The ribs from Costco tastes much better and way cheaper.

I took my father here for his birthday. It’s not all that great, I tried the filet Megnon. I was not impressed nor was I impressed enough to give it another try. My son seemed to enjoy it. He ordered and slap of BBQ ribs.

Deciding to go to Tony Roma’s the first time went something like this…

Location: Aiea Heights
Restaurant debaters: Me & Beau

Me: “Baaaabe! I’m starving!”
Beau: “OK baby- where do you wanna go?”
Me: “I don’t know… I don’t wanna drive… far”
Beau: “Town is not far, babe!”
Me: “I don’t want to park!”
Beau: “True… Go Yelp something nearby, baby.”
Me: “There’s NOTHING in Aiea! There’s nothing clo… (*Yelp search for restaurants nearby*)… I don’t want anything in Aiea… it’s so ghetto!!” (*yelp search continues*)…
Beau: “You live in Aiea, babe.”
Me: *sigh* “Tony Roma’s…? Do you like that idea?”
Beau: “Oooooh! Something new! Yeah, let’s try it!”

And so we did. We got in the car, drove down the hill and were fortunate enough that at 5:30pm on a Sunday we were able to find parking immediately amongst several open stalls. ***Note: This is by NO MEANS a common event. Do not EVER anticipate this to happen. You will be severely disappointed.

Were I to base my review solely on parking availability and speed of pre-seating service, I would give it a 1 star. Fortunately for Tony, I like food…

Beau and I were surprised at how many dishes looked and sounded incredible. *EVERYTHING* was floating our boats… So much that we ended up not ordering an entree! We stuck with the trio sampler that consisted of the onion loaf, chicken tenders and potato skins, the steak flatbread, cheesecake and brownie ala mode with raspberry sauce. Each item was great! We were stuffed and couldn’t finish the chicken tenders or the onion loaf.

((For my fellow parking-phobic peeps, you can order delivery via 941-DINE))

The Breakdown…

-House bread: Soft inside, crispy outside w/whipped butter… mmmmmmm!!
-Chicken tenders: Extra crispy coating, moist chicken
-Potato Skins: Perfect amount of every topping!! Ask for sour cream instead of ranch if that’s your thing!
-Onion Loaf: delicious battered onion but a little difficult to pull apart… a bit overly oily but still awesome with the barbecue dip.
-Angus steak Flatbread: crispy, thin flatbread w/ blue cheese and steak… I’m picky about my meat and i thought the quality of the cubes felt a bit LOT like scraps they cut off of the steaks they used for entrees.. but the flavor was good.
-Cheesecake w/strawberries: light, rich- just as you’d expect… but fresher…
-Brownie w/raspberry: TDF… to die for. Yes, I’m serious.

That was so delicious that I ordered takeout/delivery from 941-DINE ($8.99 delivery charge on top of your check plus tip).
At which time I ordered the following…

-Chicken Spinach Stack: light, flavorful w/creamed spinach and panko
-Bacon mac’n’cheese: INCREDIBLE!! CHEESY, BACONY, CRISPY ON TOP!! PERFECTION!!!!!
-Mashed Red potatoes: good… a little dry… proc better w/gravy
-Roasted veggies: lame…
-Kickin’Shrimp: good… a little gummy but beau really liked it.

The service, once you are seated, is great. Not much of a view of you do happen to get a window seat, but the waiters and waitresses are nice and courteous. Food Is Pretty good overall. It is a bit narrow as restaurant space goes… feels very loud inside.

Conclusion: I’ll probably stick with delivery for convenience… It was difficult for me to decide how many stars it deserved based on all aspects of my experiences… So, I had to average it all out based on these criteria…
-PARKING: 1 star
-Pre-seat wait: 3 stars
-Staff: 5 stars
-Food: 4 stars
-Price: 3 stars

Parking was easy to find and there was no wait. However, they didn’t answer the phone when we tried to make reservations two times… Other than that, that food was delicious, and our server was friendly.

Is is my weekly place. I love the company of bartenders and servers. The food is also generally very good. My go to meal is anything from the Harvati Burger to the shrimp and Salmon Piccata with capers (salty balls).
