Finally got to come in and eat today and WOW!!! Zero complaints here! Coffee tasted fresh, carne asada was juicy and delicious. We got french toast and elote hash. Perfect amount of food for two, and inexpensive as well. Beautifully decorated with a bright but not busy ambiance, and plants all around. Will definitely be back to try a cocktail here on a non work day 🙂

I wholeheartedly recommend Bar Carlo to anyone who likes great food served by friendly people in a restaurant with a strong community vibe.
If you are Vegan or GF you will find something tasty and creative and you can customize your order if you need to.
The Eggs Benedict, served on Saturday and Sunday IS to die for.
Bar Carlo makes it clear that Ice isn’t welcome without a judicial warrant. They have a program where you can help people who have lost snap benefits.
In short, the owner Mel cares about PDX and it show in her food and support for the community.
Its an honor to have Bar Carlo in my neighborhood. Thanks for standing up for PDX.

So grateful for the team at Bar Carlo for hosing our holiday event so seamlessly. Taking the time to do a run of the program before the event and having a full team there to take care of our after hours event. The food was great but our favorite part was the space. Our group of 50 fit perfectly for an informal networking event. On a side note, your brunch is FIRE!

I think we found our new favorite SE Portland brunch spot. I liked the self serve Italian roasted coffee area while you wait for your table. The entire menu looked delicious but my stomach is only so big! The pineapple flan was a nice surprise as I’ve never had that before. Treat yourself to brunch and a cocktail and have a great time.

We’ve wanted to try Bar Carlo for a while and decided to get takeout brunch today. For $16 the portion size of the Chilaquiles Verde is ridiculously small. Would have been $21 with added meat. I’ve never received anything other than an appetizer or side in this size of takeout container. I’m unsure if portions are different when dining in? The flavors are good, but the price is just not justifiable for what it is.

Our group of 4 ate at Bar Carlo on Saturday.
The place has a cool with a laid back community vibe. The food was delicious on ALL accounts. We had the chilaquiles and the eggs Benedict which were full of flavor, fresh, not greases and the eggs were perfection. The red salsa is a must. We did not have the salsa verde. I suspect it is great too.
I have not had a go to breakfast on lunch place for some time with the shifting landscape of the food seen. The Bar Carlo menu is substantially. I look forward to working my way through it.
After brunch we ordered drinks, hung out in their lounge and enjoyed ourselves. Drinks were spot on. Creative, interesting and balance.
Everyone was friendly and touch point of the staff were just right. Highly recommend Bar Carlo. Enjoy.

Best breakfast on the east side hands down! So good. Carnitas omelette, house made hot sauce, a couple of tamarindo margaritas, steak and flan. Simply put, you can’t go wrong! Self serve Nossa family coffee is amazing. For authentic Mexican flavors go here! You wont be disappointed, I promise!!

My husband and I eat brunch here at least once a month. The food is to die for, service is always super friendly and the coffee is great. The volume of the room can be pretty overwhelming if you’re sound sensitive because of the high concrete ceilings, but that won’t stop me from coming back for the elote hash!

Bar Carlo is phenomenal. They accommodated our large group of 14 and the service was amazing. The food was really divine. The Monte Carlo, the Benedict, the Elote Hash, the French toast and all the food was all delicious and beautifully done. The ambiance is so cozy. The lighting is lovely and it feels like a very comfortable space. Prices are good and reasonable. I wish I could eat there everyday.

It may not seem like it on the outside, but inside it’s a fantastic Mexican/Hispanic restaurant.
Had the bacon breakfast wet burrito and it was superb.
The bacon wasn’t so crispy it turned to dust, and it wasn’t too chewy that it stretched.
It was perfectly cooked and seasoned to break away at every bite.
