Reviews
The fried ravioli is excellent as an appetizer. The wife enjoyed the ziti, and the chicken marsala was fairly decent. The kid’s butter fettuccine was overcooked and had way too much butter.
Service was wonderful. The place is quite lovely. But temper your expectations.
My first negative review well earned here! We have been coming here for almost 5 yrs according to Google. Per other reviews-original owners apparently sold in 2024. It all makes sense now. Close to 20 reviews of 1-2 stars in the past 4-5 mo? It’s just not the same + neither is the pasta
Super long wait for water, a glass of wine and the salad. Then they had to bake bread. Next no croutons – so the Caesar salad was basically a handful of wilted old lettuce and a little Parm. We thought -Ok things happen. Then no Daou Cabernet. Ok np had a suggested red blend instead. Again we are fairly easy going diners and don’t get ruffled easily. I got chicken Parm which came atop “spaghetti” Chicken Parm-barely luke warm+ overcooked pasta. But ok. My husband ordered linguine with marinara and grilled chicken. It came with what was the exact same pasta as my dish. We immediately told the manager who delivered the dishes he ordered linguine. She agreed, apologized- said it was spaghett-incorrect + took it to be corrected. Ok no issues…then she immediately comes back with the same dish saying the cook said it was linguine??!!
We observed the two dishes and the pasta was identical and overcooked. See the photos.
Now as I discussed with the mgr it’s not linguine but my husband agreed he’d just eat it since the cook refused to correct the mistake -I then glance over at the cook and she gives me what can only be described as a smarmy laughing smirk as she shrugs?!
So while I’m not proud of my response -which was to then simply flip her off as the mgr was standing at our table-there was zero call for that cook to do that. Zero. After 90 minutes hangry happens.
The place had only 6-7 tables occupied including us. Not busy as they have been on our past visits. Now we see why- with the decline in food quality.
After showing the cook my finger, I politely provided the mgr my credit card- simply asked to check us out…as she continues to apologize. I understood she wasn’t the cook. Now the server comes charging over to interrupt. She starts shouting at me loudly that I need to leave. I’m then cursed at + told I’m “old” -by her so loud the entire restaurant (including a table with a child) heard her cursing at me-not insulted by old but the offense language near a child. She continues to scream “leave” again standing over me attempting to physically intimidate me.
I asked my husband to finish checking out+ I walked out. The mgr said she recognized us as regulars+the cook is a good friend of the owner all while she continues to apologize. Now the cook walks over to participate in this 3 ring circus. Our evening was ruined. We still haven’t eaten anything yet but bread.
The cook continues to berate my husband telling him to “go to Randall’s and buy linguine that was what was served.”.
My husband refused to continue to engage the circus and just stopped responding. Smh.
At age 55 I *am* an older woman who can+ definitely will go elsewhere for “Italian” -where the establishment just corrects menu items made incorrectly or offers a substitute if something isn’t available or acceptable. Folks just go elsewhere especially if you have children if this is how staff behaves.
I certainly hope the owners provide the needed education to staff on how to properly correct an error+how to treat customers. I will end with the mgr did all she could with a cook who refused to fix or substitute the entree+comped the meal we didn’t eat OR take home.
I apologize to other customers who were forced to witness this spectacle tonight- especially the family with the young girl who had her back to us on the other side of the restaurant.
When the food finally it was burnt bread knots, forgotten ingredients, and dishes that didn’t match their own menu descriptions. For example, the Chicken Florentine is supposed to come with marinara sauce based on their own menu, but it looked and tasted exactly like fettuccine alfredo. On top of that, they forgot the mushrooms altogether and just brought me a side of them later, as if that made it better. My husband ordered Chicken Alfredo and got Alfredo with zero chicken!
It honestly felt like they didn’t even know how to make their own dishes. What a mess. I even took my plate to go, but only as a reference because it wasn’t good enough to eat. I’ve also added a picture of my dish and one from another review (shrimp Florentine) for comparison so others can see the issue.
Bottom line: Don’t waste your time or money here. Mediocre food at best—something you could make far better at home. IF THE OWNER REPLIES I WANT MY MONEY BACK
The restaurant has a great aesthetic and seems to have potential, but better communication and friendliness from the staff would really elevate the overall experience.
Update 5/7: It got late on us and too tired to cook. The family voted to go to Salerno’s. Family friendly and owner and staff are always welcoming. My second time within 2 months and the food quality is still good and filling. Support Local Business!!
