Before stopping in I read a review that said the corned beef hash wasn’t the same as other places. The reviewer thought it lacked flavor so I knew that probably meant it was house made. Most folks are used to the canned version. Sandpiper does a really excellent hash with sizable chunks of seared corned beef, nicely crisped hash browns, peppers, scallions and grilled tomatoes. Far superior to the can. My wife had the mandarin orange and marscapone stuffed French toast. Hearty slices of custardy toast. You can see that the small portion is quite generous. Fantastic. I added a side of the salmon lox and thought it was quite good. Service was friendly and refills were frequent. Bright and clean atmosphere. It wasn’t busy when we visited so I can’t speak to how the service is when they’re hopping but I’d be willing to find out.

Salmon scramble felt like an unique treat I should try at Alaska. Fruit plate was very good portion. Except for the brown bruised spots on the banana.
Service was what deterred us from recommending and coming back. Very slow and unfriendly. Two tables came after us were served coffee and orders taken before they got to us. We tried so hard to get our waitress attention to get coffee refill, both times! Very disappointed with the service.

I had breakfast this past week on a work trip to Juneau. I had the Smoked Salmon Omelet. The omelet was very good but the salmon was exceptional. If Juneau gets credit for anything it’s their salmon. I think I went out to eat 3-4 times and had salmon in some form in every meal. Service was okay. There were missing items throughout our stay. We had to ask for items two or three times before receiving them.

The walk from downtown is a bit of a trek, but the food at Sandpiper Café makes it worth it. The reindeer sausage Benedict was really flavorful and well-balanced, and the French toast was rich, sweet, and super filling. The lavender whipped cream looked fun but mostly tasted like regular whipped cream with a lot of purple coloring—I’d probably skip that next time. Overall, a great spot with solid food and a cozy vibe. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area.

I had the smom3d salmon omelette and it was awesome. Smoked and melts in the mouth. The food came out relatively fast, service was friendly, and they are ON the coffee refills… I got like 3 top offs I think. This place is amazing (breakfast and lunch only). I highly recommend it.

Sunday morning and there were no biscuits. I had ordered a biscuit with gravy, so asked for their breakfast potatoes with gravy. Potatoes were cut into assorted shapes and sizes. There was even a full 1/2 potato on my place, so of course the potatoes were cooked unevenly. Someone else ordered an omelet. It was okay, nothing special – again, the potatoes were a big miss.

What makes the perfect pancake? These guys know – light, springy, chewy texture. No wonder this place has a wall full of plaques as local favorite. Homey atmosphere, nice staff, great breakfast.
Update 2023 – This place is faster than McDonald’s! It was 3.5 minutes from the time I came in the door until I was eating a gorgeous, homemade made-to-order breakfast. This place really impressed me.
