While my mother was in the hospital (Sarasota Memorial) for surgery I decided to walk across the street with my father to Potbelly for lunch. It wasn’t busy so I was able to order sandwiches without any problem.
My father ordered the “pizza melt” and I ordered “the wreck”.
The pizza melt has basically everything a pizza would have on it from the pepperoni to the capicola, meatballs, and provolone cheese. And the wreck is made up of turkey, ham, roast beef, and salami accompanied by Swiss cheese.
Both sandwiches were extremely good.
Now there is a great view of Sarasota Memorial from the window and of the traffic on Tamiami. Plus the decor is posters, signs, and memorabilia that you would typically find in certain restaurants.
I know the next time I go I’m getting the prime rib steak sandwich.

Congrats on your grand opening today!! I’m so happy that you guys are in Sarasota now and that I don’t have to wait until my trips to Chicago to enjoy all of your delicious food!! I was very surprised at that incredible use of this space that you made as the former tenant Tijuana Flats was very cramped and very old and worn out looking… you guys made this space look amazing and I love all the little nods that you have made to Sarasota in all of your decorating! My Chicken Salad Sandwich was as amazing as I remember in Chicago and I’m glad that you guys finally added vinegar to the menu….that completes my sandwich!! Haha. I wish you guys the best here is Sarasota!!

I love Potbelly’s. This place will get its legs sooner or later, no doubt. Everyone was nice and friendly but Sandwich Maker Dani had an unpleasant attitude. She was snappy with customers and co-workers. Hopefully next time I see her she will be in a friendlier state of mind. Other than that the food was yummy and have no complaints with my order

This place was excellent! Prices are reasonable. We had the Prime Rib, Chicken Club, and off-menu Mac and cheese with BBQ pork.
Both sandwiches were incredibly flavorful, frankly better than most places in Sarasota. The Mac and cheese with BBQ pork was a suggestion for the staff, and it was unbelievably good. I was actually shocked at how good it was.
The sandwich has just enough meat. I like it more, and they did have a double meat option.

Shoutout to Will at Potbelly for outstanding service! My wife ordered A Wreck with all the works, but one bite in and the hot peppers was way too hot for her. Will overheard us talking about it and immediately offered to make a new sandwich—totally unprompted. Super kind and professional—top shelf employee!
Also, the sandwiches were really good. We had A Wreck and The Italian on thin-cut bread and loved both. Great flavor, fresh ingredients, and that thin bread option is perfect. Thanks again, Will—you made our visit a great one!
