I have driven by the Olympian Diner hundreds and hundreds of times – it’s easy to miss on Washington Street and I’ve been thinking about stopping in for quite some time so last Sunday my wife and I stopped in for breakfast. We got there at ~7:30 so there wasn’t a crowd yet but there were quite a few people already there. We got a booth (the booths have hooks for your jackets/coats so you don’t have to put them on the seat with you, which is a very nice touch IMHO) and checked out the menu. I ordered eggs, home fries, toast and coffee and my lovely bride had honey cinnamon French toast. Everything was very good and my wife especially enjoyed her French toast. The restaurant is very clean with lots of tables and booths and counter service. They have a nice variety of breakfasts, including sandwiches, griddle items, waffles, etc. and I thought the prices were very reasonable – I would even say that they are priced lower than many other places on the South Shore.
I checked out their menu and they have quite an eclectic assortment of meals and specialties for lunch and supper. Chicken wings, sandwiches galore, sirloin tips, pasta dishes, seafood, kebobs, salads, etc., etc., etc. I am very impressed by the variety of the food they serve throughout the day and I plan to stop there for lunch in the next couple weeks to check it out. Definitely a great place for breakfast and I would bet that they serve great food for lunch and supper as well.
There’s parking along Washington Street and I heard one of the waitresses mention to a patron there that they can park in the CVS across the street. There’s also a municipal parking lot around the corner – maybe a 2-3 minute walk to the restaurant.
I will definitely visit the Olympian Diner again and look forward to delving into their extensive menu.
Oh – and it’s cash only and they do have an ATM machine near the entrance.

I recently discovered this cozy diner in my neighborhood and decided to stop by for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Right away, I noticed it’s a cash-only spot, but luckily, there’s an ATM conveniently located inside. We were able to grab seats at the bar without much wait, which was a nice surprise.
The service was excellent—the staff was friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. I especially appreciated the bottomless coffee refills, a classic diner touch that made the experience even better. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, filled with families and kids, making it feel wholesome and nostalgic—exactly what you’d want from a local diner on a weekend morning.
We loved it so much that we went back on Monday for Presidents’ Day, and despite being busy as always, the service remained just as great. The consistency in both food and hospitality really stood out.

If you want a ‘diner’ experience, this is the one. It’s chaotic and buzzing with energy, plus the staff is wicked friendly & efficient. The bill is what you’d expect, and the refills come free. (Coke products, +1 point!) This is definitely a go-to favorite for my husband and me for a by-the-book diner experience. 10/10, will go again.

Been trying the brunch places in Braintree so popped into this place on a Monday. It was busy but not crowded and we were seated right away.
Staff were friendly and didn’t mind answering our questions. Prices were super affordable, the two of us eating for under 40 including tip.
We ordered- French toast with bacon sausage and eggs- we would give that a 4.5
We also ordered the classic eggs Benedict and Portuguese sausage. I’d rate the Benedict good. It didn’t blow my mind but it was solid. The Portuguese sausage was a fun alternative to regular sausage. This meal also came with home fries/hash that was good but not crispy like I prefer. They also had Greek sausage as an option. We got an iced coffee and it comes in a tall glass and has me free refill.
Overall a good place for brunch. They had a ton on the menu that looked good for lunch and dinner so I’d be interested to go back and try those there.

Was craving fried seafood for awhile especially since my favorite spot for over 30 has now closed due to retirement.
Did a Google search and this place have good reviews for their diner dishes But the pictures of the fried seafood platter did it for me.
I had to try it (unfortunately, was informed that they don’t have any whole bellies clam but just clam strips). This platter had 2 huge (probably U13/13-15) shrimps, 4 good sized sea scallops, 6 haddock pieces and a handful of clam strips and fries. Requested some onion rings along with my platter and it wasn’t a problem.
Everything tasted fresh and not greasy. I even ate the leftovers the next morning, cold…and it was quite delicious.
BF got the Pastrami sandwich and I’d manage to get a bite before he inhaled the rest. It was also well made
Annmarie was our server who did a good job checking on us and suggested dessert but we were too full since we had eaten birthday cake beforehand.
Still thinking about that Fried Seafood platter.

I could see that earlier in the morning it could be long waits, this place is a good ole fashion diner! Great servers, excellent prices and the food as if grandma was in the kitchen! We are only here for the weekend and may be back for all of our meals here. I’m sure they won’t know our names by then, but they knew a lot of people coming in the door by name!

Doing errands out near the lake shore mall and needed lunch. So many options and yet wanted local fare and here you find this establishment ringing in solid consistency in reviews. Amazing staffing, with such ease and warmth, one feels, like your sitting in some ones kitchen! Pastrami and fries for me and a roast beast sandwich you had to eat with a knife and fork for my wife! Best of all the coffee is ground/ brewed on site! Do not miss the prices and the great food!
