Counter-serve eatery dishing up Michoacan-style Mexican dishes in a homey setting.

My family and I come here way too often. We love it and have our go to items we go to. Chilaquiles with carnitas and a sunny side up egg, tacos de cecina (serranos are hot), pozole/menudo (my wife’s go to). Favorite brunch/breakfast spot in Orange County!
The staff has always been friendly and checks in if we need anything. We have two kids so they accommodated high chairs when we’ve needed it.
When you arrive just know that you’ll be told where to sit so you can’t save seats.

The flavors in the chorizo and asada burrito were delicious! Atmosphere was quaint and relaxing, service was great. All interactions were very pleasant. I would definitely dine here again.

This gem still holds up after so many years of coming here. My mom took me soon after it opened and we had chilaquiles for the first time and now I’m an adult and my partner (who is Mexican) begs me to take her every now and then. Still always get the chilaquiles on the patio.

This is a very nice cafe, whether you’re sitting outside or inside, both provide equally great aesthetics. For the food, I wish the salsa provided with the burritos was spicy, even just a little. I understand restaurants can’t make their salsa actually spicy for specific people but if salsa is provided I would appreciate it to have some spice. On the other hand the pozole was super tasty! The chips provided were the perfect side and had really good flavor.

Green chilaquiles were solid and tasty, the carne asada i could tell was not fresh, but maybe made 30 minutes to an hour before and then reheated, however it was still tasty. My only issue was the prices. 18.25 for basic chilaquiles, came with ONE egg, typical would be 2 eggs. Extra charge for sour cream, avocado, and of course the protein said it included cheese, which was a very small amount. All together it was maybe 26 bucks or so. Definitely not worth the price. Also, cafe de olla was 6 bucks (no refills) which I though was odd because a cafe de olla is a authentic and typical choice of drink in the Mexican culture, but it was considered a specialty, why? I can’t imagen it costin much more to make, because regular coffee was refillable. Water was not complimentary 1 dollar for a bottle. Including tip I think we spent about 75 dollars on chilaquiles and drinks. For a casual sit down place where one orders the counter is a little hefty, (but I guess that’s California for ya lol).

The outside patio was very cute, I would definitely recommend this place.

I got the green chilequilles and a diet coke. Carne Asada was super salty and I was not a fan of the green sauce either. My Dad liked the chorizo and coffee. Service was good. I really liked the ambiance of the outdoor seating. Nice area.

My friend has been wanting to come here and have breakfast. We finally found a day we can finally have breakfast. I got a dirty horchata and a breakfast burrito. It’s best to go to the cashier and already know what you want to order. Makes the line go faster. There is seating inside and outside. We sat inside. This place has good food and service. There is parking all around.

The food is great, but the service significantly hurts the overall experience, making the atmosphere feel mediocre. The staff working the register, kitchen, and tables are great—friendly, hardworking, and clearly doing their best.
Unfortunately, the owners’ customer service and restaurant management are very poor. They don’t greet you and there was a bunch of confused customers at the door while they pretended to play host. When acting as hosts, they ask how many are in your party, but that’s where it ends. They don’t actually seat you or explain the seating process. You’re left to choose a table yourself, only to later be told to move after you’ve already sat down (??). This wasn’t an isolated incident because we saw it happened to a couple other parties. This lack of communication and consistency is confusing and makes guests feel unwelcome. It’s disappointing, especially since the food itself is good.

This place calls itself an “authentic” Mexican restaurant, but my experience was anything but. I ordered a veggie burrito, and the staff told me it would have vegetables, potatoes, and avocado. What I got was a soggy tortilla stuffed with canned butter beans (not even pinto), tomatoes, and serrano peppers. It was completely different from what they promised.
When I complained, I was told with a straight face that pico de gallo was the “vegetable” they meant. That’s not just ridiculous, it’s insulting. The manager refused to admit any mistake, wouldn’t give a proper refund, and after pressing the issue, literally tossed me three $1 bills like that would make it right.
Between the false advertising, bad food, and arrogant, dismissive service, this place is a total waste of money.
