Hi, does anyone know what happened to Top Roe or has an update?

Austin got it’s first Sri-Lankan spot, Ceylon Taco! It only opened this year. You won’t find any other Sri-Lankan place in Central Texas.

We sat at the hand roll bar. Everything was fresh but you barely could taste the fish with the rice and seaweed. It was acceptable cost wise because we got many items from the HH, but if we paid full price, I wouldn’t return. I like that they tell you “the seats are for 1:15 hour” at checkin, but also this is a very quick meal, takes away from the experience.

The hamachi sashimi was amazing! The bluefin tuna was good if you got some of the sauce. Hand roll wise, we liked the crunchy tuna, shrimp tempura, and uni. The dessert was good too.

Don’t waste money on the trinity.

LOVE. A bit pricey for sure but we did basically order the whole menu. We tried every single sashimi dish (there’s 4) and every single one was excellent. The shrimp tempura was awesome and the rolls were good as well. Will be back for sure!

I had an incredible experience at Top Roe! The quality of the fish was outstanding—especially the hamachi, scallops, and tuna, which were unbelievably fresh and flavorful. Every bite melted in my mouth, and the texture and taste were just perfect.

The ambiance was intimate yet lively, making it a great spot for both a casual night out and a special occasion. The service was also top-notch—attentive without being intrusive.

I particularly loved how the seaweed in the hand rolls was super crispy, adding a great texture contrast. The balance of flavors and attention to detail in each dish made it clear that the chefs here truly care about their craft.

If you’re a sushi lover in Austin, Top Roe is a must-visit! I’ll definitely be back soon.

I really love this restaurant. The decor is casual and pleasant. The service is always consistent. The food is tasty and well priced, balanced, and varied enough for a Japanese izakaya to make us want to come back for more. The Happy Hour has some great selections such as the Blue-fin Akami tuna steak with an assortment of pickles and sauces, which is a marvel to be sure. The rice is the best ever, really. Spicy scallop hand roll, lobster hand roll and the Sunomono salad are all a must have. The Hamachi Kama is the largest we have ever split and also very fresh. The Happy Hour cocktails are refreshing. We will definitely come back.

Top Roe was AMAZING. Starting with the Japanese Old Fashioned! Wow. And the food selections after that were perfection, ending with the aged Tuna. Incredible.
Atmosphere was pretty spot one as well.
Can’t wait for the next time!

This might be my new favorite spot in Austin. It’s a handroll and izakaya restaurant and literally everything we ordered was amazing. The shrimp tempura roll was probably one of the best I’ve ever had—super crispy and flavorful. The Wagyu on the hot rock was so good too, just melted in your mouth. They gave a generous portion of the hamachi. And they even let us try some of the new hand rolls that’ll be on their izakaya menu soon, which was such a fun surprise. The whole vibe was chill but still felt elevated. I’ll definitely be back.

We dined at the hand roll bar. Doesn’t feel like good value for money compared to the prices. Very small amount of fish inside the hand roll and the taste wasn’t remarkable. The hot food was good though.

There are other places in town with better quality for the price and/or lower prices with this quality.

There was also an error with the billing system when we were there so we were initially overcharged. Glad we reviewed the check and the manager swiftly corrected it.

A quick trip to Austin but a visit to top Roe was a must. Service is on point, ambiance is swanky, cocktails are creative and boozy, the food….yum.
Hamachi Kama the size of a dinosaur cooked to perfection for the table to share. Sashimi was so flavorful and not overpowered by sauces. Tried their ‘Tuna time’ happy hour menu which was fun and had great options including non fish items like pork belly skewers. Not to mention is just fun to say tuna time! Must visit if you’re in Austin and like sushi.

Had an incredible night at a Japanese inspired spot led by a top chef we were lucky enough to meet in person. The toro tuna was unreal and definitely one of the top 10 food experiences of my life. Every dish was thoughtful and unforgettable. If you get the chance, go!
