The owners are super welcoming and take the time to explain the menu for anyone new to African food. The chicken egusi and fufu was full of flavor, and it made trying something new really easy and fun. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to!

Although we didn’t book online because Google Maps indicated it was a restaurant, we found that it was actually a takeout place. The staff was very accommodating and took our orders promptly, with our food ready in about 40 minutes. The main highlight was the extensive menu, and the food was definitely worth the wait, it was delicious! However, she indicated that they will be relocating to be able to establish as a functioning restaurant.

I went in there expecting a pleasant place to order food for my sister who has cancer to cheer her up and give her the meal she desired to try for the first time in a cozy environment. The name of the restaurant is not on the door, when we went in the place was dark (during the day) and a tv show with cursing in it (what if we had kids). The lady that came out and said you gonna have to wait a while in a dismissive manner as if she was upset we chose the place. She could’ve said, “Hello thank you for coming. We are backed up and expected wait time is…..” I gave it the benefit of the doubt and we sat down anyway. I went to the kitchen about 15 minutes later to ask her bout how lomg the wait would be and she rudely said, “I will be out to speak to you in a minute.” She didn’t even look up. When she came out I asked how long we would need to wait so I could decide whether to place the order and come back. She said, ” I can’t take your order until I get these orders done.” So we couldnt even get a timeframe at all ! Every restaurant you go to they give you an expected timeframe. And she could’ve wrote the order on paper or offer to call me when she was ready to place it but her RUDE demeanor caused my sister who is sick to say to tell me, ” No sis I want to leave.” I chose your restaurant to cheer up my sick sister and you were so rude, she decided she no longer wanted to be there! The lady stood in the doorway and she watched us walk out and did NOT apologize. A patron sitting in the restaurant pulled me aside and said, “if you call in she will take the order.” It is as if ordering from this place is a best kept secret from the public. I was angry and embarrassed to have given this place a chance. Food is spiritual and there is something to be said about an angry unhappy person cooking your food. I thank God it didn’t work out it was a blessing in disguise. I’ve read the reviews and the ones that said the owner is rude are NOT lying. She should change your ways instead of defending the horrible way she treats people. If anyone ever asks for Nigerian cuisine I will definitely tell them if they love themselves and their family, they should NOT go here. I am a very calm loving individual and I have a lot of patience. It takes a lot for me to write such a scathing review but the truth needs to be told.

The sweetest customer service I’ve experienced! For reference I’m in the military which my day required me to be up at 4am a rough early morning start in the heat, after my long draining day in the field all I could’ve think about was this food! Drove 2 hours down to make it there before he closed, got there and was greeted with the best customer service I’ve received! Was a very rough day which he made better for me little did he know, made my day!

I order the goat, fish & goat okra Egusi. I gave 4 stars, bc of the texture of the meats. The goat wasn’t as tender, as I thought it would be. It was a bit rubbery. The fish was a bit tough. The okra tasted like they were cooked long enough. The flavors were great, and I loved the fufu. Even though there no salt added to the fufu, the flavor from the Egusi helps in that aspect. I was shocked by the prices. I’ve eaten at African restaurants before, and what I paid for those 3 dishes, I could’ve gotten 5-6 meals at others. I’m not sure if it priced that way, bc they don’t get much customers, or what. Also, I was expecting more Egusi than what I received for $28-$30. Example: previous African restaurants I’ve eaten at, I pay $17 for Egusi/Saka Saka with 2-3 large size fufu balls. This restaurant is definitely not located in the best area, for a restaurant. As far as parking and more business is concerned. Maybe they’ll rethink their prices. I love African food, but not will to pay almost the twice the money I usually do. . I do wish them the best!!!

Awesome food. We got the Jollof rice, chicken, and goat. Nice balance of flavor and spice. Worth the price, especially since it’s one of the few restaurants in the area. The atmosphere is perfect for a nice cozy date night, not private but great for one on one conversation. On the last Sunday of each month, I was told it’s buffet style from 3pm-8pm, with all you can drink as well. Don’t let the outside of the building fool you, this is gold!

I was craving FuFu so bad and this place did not disappoint. It’s simple you call in your order and they deliver it to you and the elementary school parking lot. It was an interesting technique but it was worth it. We will definitely order from here again. Having a Nigerian American husband that gave two thumbs up on the food was all the co sign that I needed.

Been looking for authentic African food around Charleston for over 3 years and finally found this place. The owner was amazing,clean and delicious food. Clean place too. Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to enjoy African cuisine.
