We dined here as a family on Christmas evening and honestly 9 East is among the best Chinese/Asian restaurants on the CT shoreline. A good amount of people come here for the hibachi experience as well as sushi. But this time we came for the Chinese food which was exceptional for the shoreline. 9 East stands out among the rest for quality food and large portions. When we were seated we were shown the QR code to scan (no menus provided) and honestly the online menu is not intuitive = a wreck of a site and needs to be fixed. But if you get past that, the dining experience is wonderful. We are a family of five and the total bill before tip was $140 and included a scorpion bowl (super strong and a little expensive at $22), one order of scallion pancakes, one order of dumplings, a fried rice, mandarin chicken, general tso chicken, 2 orders of general tso tofu and an order of broccoli/tofu in garlic sauce. We ordered a noodle dish which the waitress forgot to bring but we appreciated that because the portions were large and we were full! All in all, a positive experience with excellent food.

The food was good. I may be partial as I normally frequent another restaurant for Asian quisine. It was nice that they took out their drum to sing Happy Birthday to my daughter!

I don’t have many pictures of this place have taken a video but google doesn’t allow videos. Decor is amazing – I loved the gold fish pond with Buddha statue. Food was fresh and tasty. The best was the fried cheesecake dessert – this is the first time I had it- omg it was so good!!

A couple of things. Atmosphere is nice and the service and speed is pretty good. The chairs that we sat in around the hibachi table were a little un-sturdy. Food was flavorful. Only thing I didn’t like is the fact that they cook the rice first and give it to you…..and then cook the vegetables and the meat. Next time I will ask if they can cook the rice last so I can eat it with the rest of the food. Other than that, not bad.

I came for lunch specials on a weekday. I had the Maki lunch special which included: one salad, one miso soup, one avocado roll and one vegetable roll. They were very fresh ! I also ordered a Shirley Temple for a beverage! My guest had the steak and shrimp hibachi lunch special.. that came with a hibachi mushroom soup and fried rice. All delicious and fresh. Our waitress was friendly, courteous and at the top of her game! Water, salads, soup, lunch, beverages and the bill was delivered in a timely manner. Everything appeared to be fresh and the service was excellent!

I would give zero stars if I could…. I have been coming for years and it’s always been my go to tonight I made reservations and they tried telling me since my kids weren’t getting hibachi we could t sit at the table and that’s always been there policy in which of hasn’t we have always been coming and sitting at a hibachi table and my kids order off of the regular menu. I will never be back a new worker gave us an attitude I refuse to give them my money back to kampi I go ✌

This was our first time going to a hibachi grill within the US; the service here was amazing as well as their extensive menu! The chef did a great job performing for us and keeping us entertained. The food was delicious and left us wanting to come back again soon.

Entertaining hibachi with talented chefs. This hibachi is in an updated Asian style restaurant, while it is pretty inside, I personally like the feel of the old hibachi on the other side of town.

We had a group of 9 last night (4 children) for my sons birthday. He wanted hibachi so we decided on 9east. Big mistake. Chef did ONE trick, and not very friendly. When he was finished cooking, he turned around and offered saki to everyone. Our children weren’t impressed. The chef across the way from us got a wonderful show and the kids all looked intrigued. I was expecting a full show for my sons birthday. We spend $400+ on dinner and won’t be back. Plus, server wasn’t attentive and we had to ask for napkins & more drinks. Nothing ever offered or asked. Don’t waste your money here.

Took our kids here for their first hibachi experience, waitress was less than thrilled to be working, hibachi chef was like a wet rag, minimal effort, not the usual fun you expect at hibachi and I had several pieces of chicken that were undercooked. Wife had sushi that was “good.” We ate at 5pm on a Friday, it was NOT busy. Will not go back.
