Reviews
The venue: has so many tv’s that it seems a bit like Buffalo Wild Wings, but they weren’t loud at all. Was a good environment to talk aloud to your group without looking out of place or disturbing others.
The Staff: was AMAZING, and somehow we seemed to have more than one waiter/waitress at times. Made us feel sorta important haha. They seemed happy and were knowledgable at the menu items and were helpful in any substitutions or special requests.
The Food: This was easily a 5 star category. For a corner “bar” that doesn’t exactly catch your eye as “fancy”, I was amazed at the food quality AND especially the PRESENTATION of it!! I did not expect the food to come out looking like it did, and we had no problems with the taste or quality. We had really good talk around the table of the taste of the Sweet Potato fries over another restaraunts Sweet Potato Fries and their Ruebens are made with Shredded Corned beef, which is something I have never encountered….and it only added to the taste in a positive way. Food was good and warm. I don’t think any of us were able to finish their plate, as the portions are good and large.
Overall it was a wonderful experience and we can’t wait to come back! Huge shout out to the waitstaff and the cook!
The menu is extensive. The Reuben was great—though we wish we had asked for extra sauerkraut. The Cajun pasta was amazingly flavorful, with plenty of sausage and chicken, plus a nice variety of vegetables. The wild rice soup came in a generous portion, and the hamburger was juicy and well-seasoned.
Our waitress was fantastic! Overall, we were very happy with our meal and felt it was a great value for a reasonable price in downtown Minneapolis.
We were with a large group, 22 of us, and had one server. She was awesome. She stayed on top of everything order wise, got all the drinks correct etc.
Good place to grab lunch if you’re in the area.
We visited 8th Street Grill for dinner in Aug 2024 during our flight layover in Minneapolis. Based on reviews and location we expected an ok American fair at best. However, the restaurant surprised us by an excellent food quality, absolutely amazing salmon baked on cedar plank, and our waitress Christine with whom we had an interesting conversation about literature! This visit turned into an experience rather than just a food stop. Thank you, Christine!
We certainly recommend 8th Street Grill if you are in the area!
Appetizers
Cheese Curds – fresh and yummy
Cesar salad
Entrees
Cedar Plank Salmon – this was a masterpiece! It was fresh, juicy, and literally melting in the mouth! It was more like a Chilean seabass with no hint of dryness. The spices and brown sugar glaze gave it an amazing delicate flavor. This was certainly one of the best salmons I ever had!
Cajun Seared Salmon – this one was delicious as well and salmon was fresh, juicy, and flavorful
Chicken Sandwich with Pepper Jack and Avocado – excellent. My son finished it in no time.
Chicken Tenders – good quality chicken tenders according to my daughter 🙂
