Upscale in Fargo, yes! You will truly love the attention to detail from Monte and the staff. Everything about our visit was top notch. From the melt in your mouth Bread, to the house salad, yo the main course of linguine with lobster, to the pumpkin cheesecake, omg, delicious! They also have one of my favorite malbecs in the Red Schooner, in this case the 2022 vintage Voyage 11! Located in the Radisson Blu in downtown Fargo, a can’t miss if you are in the area.

I came here for dinner with my wife on a Friday night and we were sat immediately by Monte who would check in on us multiple times throughout the evening making sure we were doing well. Molli was our server and she was nice and attentive taking our orders and bringing us refills throughout the night. It was our first time visiting, so we got a number of different things to try. The truffle fries came out first, and they tasted fantastic; a real highlight, which alone will probably bring us back. The chicken wings were good, but I would have preferred more of a crispy breading, but I appreciated that they didn’t skimp at all on the sauce and side of ranch. The breaded crab was good, but only warm whereas I would have preferred it hot, but I like things like that super hot, so I may be in the minority. By the time the main meals came, we were pretty darn full, but I really liked the chicken parm, and my wife liked her pancetta formaggio. Overall, it wasn’t an inexpensive meal, but you get good portions for the cost. It feels higher end, so if you are looking for a nicer place to dine, or have a special event to celebrate, this can definitely deliver that atmosphere.

Initially, we were informed that our food would take a considerable amount of time due to the staff being busy. However, the restaurant was only 20% occupied at the time, which raised questions about the efficiency of the service. Unfortunately, our appetizers, including the chicken wings, were served decidedly raw. Subsequent entrees of steak and lobster tail were also undercooked, with the meat so raw that it exhibited bright red and pink coloration near the bone. Such vivid red typically indicates that the meat did not reach a safe internal temperature, which is alarming from a food safety perspective.
During our visit, I overheard multiple tables express their dissatisfaction with the service, which was indicative of a broader issue within the establishment. I was surprised to hear the staff offer a coupon to the table next to us due to their undercooked food concerns, which is hardly an appropriate remedy for such serious issues. Additionally, the waitress made a comparison of the quality of the wings to that of Pizza Hut, stating, “I’d say they’re better than Pizza Hut.” Such remarks are shocking, especially considering this restaurant positions itself as one of Fargo’s higher-end dining establishments.
To summarize, I paid $200 for a meal that not only failed to meet basic culinary standards but also raised significant health concerns. While the manager was the only aspect of my visit that stood out positively, I cannot recommend this establishment based on my experience. If you value food safety and quality, I suggest seeking dining options elsewhere. I left hungry, but with no desire to eat anything after seeing the quality of food here.

My husband and I came for our Valentines dinner which offered a 4 course menu- we each got something different so we could try it all- service took quite some time (2hrs 15min- we took dessert to go) due to computer issues and a new chef. Our waitress Molly was super pleasant and comped us 50% on our tab (completely not necessary) for the troubles during our meal! Our food was delicious- my only complaint was my risotto wasn’t done all the way but the flavor was good!

Updated – My wife and I recently visited the bar part of the restaurant. We love the atmosphere here, looking out the window at downtown. Service at the bar was very friendly and prompt.

My wife and I had a small reception here after our wedding in the private dining room. Monte and staff made everything better then we could have imagined. The service was excellent, food was mouth watering and delicious and the atmosphere was everything we wanted. Was an exceptional evening in every way. Thanks again to 84 Italian steakhouse staff and especially Monte.

84 Italian Steakhouse has become a go to for my wife and I in terms of fine dining. We’ve actually visited this site three times now including our most recent visit. We have recommended it to our associates and friends as the best place to visit in town for fine dining. The food and ambience is great. The atmosphere gets the mood going for the evening. The food and drinks menu are fairly priced for what you would expect from a fine dining restaurant. We usually prefer table seating next to the window but anywhere you sit is fine. From the door you’re welcomed with hospitable service. We were actually surprised during our first visit to have been greeted and seated by the owner himself. The waiters are usually always very accommodating and will make sure to meet your requests as a customer. I don’t know what more can I say about this place other than you have to experience it for yourself. You will definitely get your money’s worth!
