First let’s talk about the good stuff.
1. The main ingredients are great quality. Specifically like uni and the wagu. They are definitely imported from Japan. One small caveat is the attention to detail aren’t that great .
The 4th course which was served in a waffle cone, the cone was soggy and not crunchy any more.
The wagyu course’s wagyu was good but it was served on a piece of bread which is dry and cold.
2. Servers are very nice. They are very warm and tries their best to make us comfortable. But I’ll leave the rest in the negative part.
Here’s what I was quite disappointed during experience.
1. Over Priced for Valentine’s Day – we were billed $600 for two people which means the price is $300 per person after tax for the course. We DID NOT order wine pairing. This is just for the omakase courses + tax + tips. This is seriously overpriced. Online says their origin price is only $150 per person, but I was surprised by the bill when they brought to us.
2. Price was not communicated – there was no communication about the price of this meal while booking or on the menu. I am very sorry cause they are all nice people, but i genuinely felt being scammed.
3. The dining environment and service wasn’t meeting fine dining expectations – the restaurant is sharing space with a Ramen place, so the dining environment and internal decors are what you would expect at a ramen place. The staff are very nice. They tried their best to serve us well. They felt like your next door neighbors, very nice but not as professional in introducing the food and serving.
I’d say at $300 per person price point I am expecting a better experience. I probably won’t come back again if there’s mi change.
The ambience is good and there is a unique water and condiment setup that makes it standout, although it also crowds the table a bit. Nevertheless, it’s unique and adds to the charm of the place.
Service was great and we chatted a lot with the lady who was covering our table. She gave us a lot of background on the work they did to get the current menu in place and tweaks they are planning going forward.
Overall, this place was a refreshing change of pace. Tsukemen is not that common, the ambience is different, and the service was super engaging. I will definitely go back to check on the evolving menu. Highly recommended.
Each dish was creative, thoughtful, well-presented, and very delicious. The chefs explained each dish in details and made the experience interactive, which I really liked. We learned a lot about the different ingredients, why they were selected, and how they prepared them. Not typical in omakase places where they would just mention the fish and moved on.
The service was also top-notched, well-prepared, and friendly, which makes the atmosphere is cozy and relaxing. I just wish they play some musics in the background.
Note that their sake flights come with free one refill. So you would get 6 instead of 3 for the price. I thought this was a bit strange. Not sure why they didn’t just price for one portion, but we finished the double portions anyways haha. They have good sake selection!
I would highly recommend for special occasions or if you are simply into creative dishes. They rotate their menus every month or so. I would love to see lunch menus so I can enjoy it more regularly.
My recommendation is to get in before this place blows up.
The place was very quiet and intimate and everyone was very welcoming and passionate about what they created!
I already recommended to all of my friends and hope more people will try the experience!
