We stopped into 744 West Bar and Grill on a Friday night just to grab a cocktail, and it turned out to be a great choice. The place had a fun, lively atmosphere that really fit the night. Josh at the bar was clearly very busy, but he still provided excellent, attentive service, which was impressive. The drinks were very well made and enjoyable. Parking was a bit of a challenge, but that’s to be expected on a busy Friday evening. Overall, a great spot for drinks with a vibrant vibe.

The best thing about this place is the prices. They have fantastic prices. $10.99 for 8 decent sized wings? Who else does that? Most joints are out here trying to get $2 per wing now. I believe the buffalo shrimp was the same price ($10.99) for 7 big fried shrimp. The food decent but it isn’t going to blow your mind. That’s just me though cause I know a ton of people who love this place. My personal favorite thing was the chili, my only complaint is that it has no beans in it. When I want chili now, I no longer have to go to Wendy’s. Wings and buffalo shrimp were good but were a little too saucy for me so next time I’d probably just ask them to go light on the sauce. Good blue cheese, ok creamy garlic but nowhere near as good as Lorenzo’s creamy garlic. Definitely worth the price. Fantastic staff too. Definitely have to try a burger next time.

I’m torn. I went yesterday (dined in)and had the BBQ Texas burger. This was amazing! 5 stars…. juicy loads of bbq sauce. the toast was buttery and not burnt.
Today I ordered the same thing to go. burger is dry, the toast is burnt… not as many fries. It is definitely like night and day since yesterday. I don’t taste the BBQ, and have a burnt flavoring aftertaste.
Now I have mixed feelings on ordering to go from here.

Great little restaurant right down the street from university of new haven. We walked in and seated ourselves Excellent service, we were in a hurry due to getting to a college tour ontime and waitress took our order and expedited so we could eat fast. Waitress was very accommodating and service was good. Wasn’t crowded definitely a good find!

At our most recent visit, the wait wasn’t too bad. We had a party of 7 ppl and were seated pretty quickly for a Saturday night.
Our waitress, though quite nice, seemed a bit overwhelmed. The food was pretty good, but the parmesan wings weren’t the best. I’d recommend this restaurant.

It was such a beautiful day out so we decided we wanted to eat out at a laid back spot with a patio. I agreed upon 744 which one of my fav spots! To our dismay there was no patio service and we almost went elsewhere but I really wanted the clams casino. So we sat at the bar and I’m glad we did! The bartender was so personable and happy to be there lol!! We greeted with a smile! As always we receive an extensive menu and sit there stuck like deer in headlights because we want it all lol!! The bartender was wonderful at helping us to narrow it down! Clams casino, French Onion soup, Shrimp and Crab chowder, sweet chilli pepper wings with garlic parm dip and the NY strip topped with a sherry cream sauce with lobster meat. All of it was absolutely top notch. The flavor was nailed in every dish. I was very pleased with the food and satisfied with the portions. The steak cooked med rare to perfection and so tender. The mashed red potatoes were great too, perfect combo of butter, garlic salt .
We will be back again!!
