We loved the restaurant when it was under the past owners and we hoped to still love it. We did! It still had all the old charm of the church and it was kept the same with a few slight changes. We got the nachos for our appetizer with brisket. It was delicious and the brisket didnt disapoint. It had a great taste and the cheese was creamy and flavorful. We ordered a pasta meal and a pizza that we split. Honestly. I’m not sure which was better, the pasta or tge pizza. Both were equally delicious. The pizza had that great wood cooked taste to it and the pasta was out of this world! I’m so glad we still love the restaurant! It makes the 2+ hour drive from where we live to eat there. We found some hidden jems in the restaurant in the rafters. See the pictures. Go there enjoy the food, the beautiful restaurant and see if you can find them in the rafters.

I second Joanne Griffin’s review with the let down of seeing the new owners gut the great revivalist. No grand piano, no chandelier, no pool table. But here is the same beer menu with a classless rebrand on top of having a menu with less food options and childish chatGBT generated names. Took a diamond in the rough in a place like Clinton Iowa and turned into a half rate “brewery” that opted for a beer vending machine and sell out merch stand than having the amenities that made the church a truly magical place to be in. I hope the owner knows the business well enough to get new customers who didn’t even know what the Great Revivalist was because this a prime example of you vs the guy she tells you not to worry about.

Our friend group of 8-9 people liked Great Revivalist so we decided to check out 7 Hills. Service was pretty good, beer was still good, but the menu was pretty limited, not that many items to pick from and some of our favorites were missing. When we asked the waitress to let management know that customers would like the tutor tots back on the menu, we were told “he won’t care”. Brisket mac n cheese is also missing. Black bean soup was very spicy. Food otherwise was ok, but we won’t be back anytime soon.

There was a snowstorm and they remained open for our party. Paris our waitress was great! I ordered a gluten free pizza and it looked and tasted so good I was concerned it wasn’t gluten free.
The ambience of the restaurant was beautiful. I’m so appreciative this beautiful church has been restored and elevated to new beauty!
This gem is worth a drive for a burger or pizza and a feast for the eyes as well!

This was my first visit to 7 Hills South since the change in ownership. There were were a few small changes I noticed in the decor and layout, but overall, it looked much like it did when it was called GRB. It was pretty slow for a Saturday night, maybe 4 other tables, so we were seated right away.
The menu had a lot of the same items as GRB, some things have been removed, some added. Prices from what I remember were the about the same.
Service, overall was great. No complaints, and I’ll give that one a 5 star rating.
Food was pretty hit and miss. I was able to try a sample of most of what we ordered, and everyone agreed with these ratings. I’ll go from “Good” to “Bad”:
Apps were really good. We tried the Mucho Nachos, and the Spin Art Dips, I would recommend both. A
I’ll add the fries that most everyone had to it’s own entry here, they were very good, we all thought. A
Several in our group got burgers. These were all very good, I’ve had the burgers at 7 Hills in Dubuque, which are just as good, so no surprise there. B+
Beef and cheddar sandwich was good, this was a special for the night and I didn’t catch the name of it. I didn’t try this but heard no complaints from the one who ordered it. She said she’d order it again. B+
One in our group got a pizza. If you’ve had the GRB pizzas, this was about the same. Could have been cooked a little longer, and the dough had very little fermentation. Ingredients tasted pretty fresh, overall good but nothing special. B-
Two in our group got the pulled pork sandwich, and both were disappointed. They were not fans of the sauce, and thought the pork was mushy and lacked flavor. C-
Finally the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich… I had one of these sandwiches when Great Revivalist still owned the restaurant. Their version of this sandwich is one of the better one’s I’ve had, easily top 5, and I often order a hot chicken sandwich if I see it on a menu. With GRB, it was a hand breaded chicken breast cutlet, seasoned just about as hot as I would care to eat. I figured since it was still on the 7 Hills menu, it was the same item, but I couldn’t have been more disappointed. I was served a pressed patty of chicken that I would be shocked if I was told it hadn’t come pre-breaded frozen in a box. No heat, zero, it was drizzled with what was supposed to be hot honey, which kind calls into question calling this a Nashville Hot sandwich in the first place, but I expected at least a little heat. Honestly this was a school or hospital cafeteria quality sandwich, and made me wonder if they had run out of sandwiches and sent someone out and to buy a sandwich at a gas station to complete my order. I thought about it a little bit more, and realized I’ve had better chicken sandwiches from gas stations, so that couldn’t have been it. I wish I was joking, but the joke was on me since I paid $16 for it. At least the fries were good (see above). F

One of the best burgers I’ve had and the fries were excellent. Inside an old Church,.. I could have spent hours just looking at all the staind glass. Must see!! And enjoy the food. I need to get the pizza next time ( woodfire), looked good!.

So me and my wife came out for trivia night and to give the food a try since we had not been here since the change of ownership. And let me tell you besides the waitress the rest was a huge letdown for us, I ordered the Boilermaker Mac and on paper it sounded great but when I received it the noodles were mostly overcooked, cheese sauce was grainy and half of the brisket that they put in wasn’t even meat it was just chunks of fat. Next my wife ordered the Fight Club sandwich and the bread was soggy and fries were cold and my beer cost more than my wife’s mixed drink.
Our waitress Cassie was phenomenal though. May be back in the future to give it another chance but probably not soon.

Loved Great Revivalist and I really wanted to like 7 Hills after the transition. My first experience was right after opening, service was slow but I wasn’t upset about that with how busy it was. The chicken sandwich was a patty and a huge disappointment, especially compared to the quality of Great Revivalist. Decided to give it a try a second time tonight, our server was simply uninterested in serving our table and we sat with empty drinks the entirety of our dinner. We would have had 2-3 more drinks each but were so annoyed after 20 minutes of not having a beverage that we were done. Food tonight was okay, but for the lack of service we’d rather drive to the QC to visit a brewery for a better experience and more enjoyable food. We agreed the only way we’d come back is if we know Seth is working. He’s literally the best and we regret not requesting his section.

Ordered a smash burger and daughter in law ordered a fight club and the bottom bun and piece of bread were so soggy our fingers went right thru them! Definitely would not recommend anything with a bun or bread. When we told our server, they said they would let management know. When i looked up reviews it seems to have happened to others. So maybe try to find a work around, grill the bread? Something?
