I had the pleasure of trying the Dirty Bird sandwich on this trip through KY. It features BBQ shredded chicken, a fried egg, coleslaw, and savory sauce on Texas toast, served with chips or sweet potato waffle fries. Wow, it was an explosion of delicious flavor on my taste buds. My aunt had the grilled chicken, shrimp, and sausage gumbo, as well as the grilled shrimp salad. The gumbo tasted great with a smoky flavor. The shrimp on the salad was not seasoned very much but the salad mux was yummy.

A wonderful bar a grill with excellent service and country atmosphere. The wait staff is friendly and efficient. My wife had the shrimp and grits and found it a bit over spiced and the grits also seemed a bit over cooked. I enjoy my shrimp and catfish po-boy. It the perfect size for me and was delicious. If your in Brentwood it is a great place to stop by for a meal and enjoy the games in the yard

MIXED reviews are understood. Was it terrible? No. Was it fantastic? No. We had the fried chicken sandwich with fries, the hot chicken sandwich (on white bread), and the gumbo. All were good. Fries were the best thing. We were seated and ordered right away (and our server Heather was great), but the food took a while to come out, which was surprising because they were not busy. We did not have anywhere to be so it did not bother us. Atmosphere is nice and casual. Large bar area with TVs. Clean. Nice place to have a beer, and food is better (with more choices) than a typical sports bar. Seems more of a lunch/brunch spot than dinner spot.

Awesome spot for American faire. Nashville hot chicken, Catfish, Gumbo, Jambalaya, po boys truly the best the south has to offer served up in great sizes by attentive staff. The grilled colliflower was truly exceptional as a side.

Not impressed with the food. The gumbo was flavorful but barely room temperature. The shrimp and grits were a great texture but the sauce was vinegar-tart. The biggest disappointment was the garlic parmesan crab fries. The fries were hot and crispy, but the sauce was sweet and completely masked the garlic butter. Finally, the crab was the most disappointing. I’m from Maryland and would have not guessed that was crabmeat on the fries. The service snd atmosphere were great, though!

The food was excellent. We had several different items and they were all great. We will definitely be back.
The only issue was slow service. We were routinely out of drinks. At one point, when I asked for water, the waitress got attitude “Yeah, I’ve got it.” At this point we had been sitting for at least 10 minutes with empty glasses. I am going to give her grace and hope that she was just having a bad day.

Oysters!!! 10/10!! I’m a South Louisiana girl and these just blessed me so.

This place was o.k. Enjoyed the red and rice. Catfish plate only 2 pieces of fish, tasted good but only 2! Cheesy grits good but again a small portion. A house salad with lettuce, tomato , red onion and some kind of powdered cheese (odd but didn’t taste bad). Big piece of chicken for plate and sandwich. Burger patty kinda small for bun. Seasoned fries were just o.k. Service was o.k., took awhile to acknowledge us sitting but she apologized (I think only 2 servers in whole place).
In summary, food tasted good but small portions…I guess a sign of the times.

Was out running errands & got super hungry. Started to look for places in the area & came across 55 South. After reading some reviews, we decided we wanted to try it out. Nice restaurant with a nice ambience. We ordered the crab fries, shrimp & grits, & red beans & rice with catfish. Overall the food was good although the red beans & rice tasted as if it was missing something when eating it alone, however mixing the catfish in with it gave the flavor we were seeking. The 2-for-1 mimosas were great as well. I would definitely go back to try other items on the menu!

What can I say other than absolutely amazing! Couldn’t decide so tried multiple appetizers. Crab fries, shrimp in a bag, shrimp & grits and fried green tomatoes with shrimp. All the sauces were so delicious. Wish I could’ve tried more! Definitely will return.
