My wife and I grew up in Owensboro. However, after 21 years of service, my post-Army employment took us to Maryland. When we got back home to visit family, 54 Pizza Express is always a stop that is a must for us. We’ve traveled all over the country and have never found a better calzone! My wife recently visited Owensboro, but I couldn’t make the trip. She talked to the people at the store, and they parbaked a couple of calzones for us so she could bring them back to Maryland. Our calzones were just as amazing as i remember! We really appreciate the care that this store took to make them them for us so we could have a little taste of home while living in America. Just another reason why we’ll always visit whenever we’re in town. I have always talked about this place and will always talk about it. I recommend this to ANYONE who loves good pizza and friendly service!

So I looked up this place before I arrived in the area and saw lots of great reviews! The only thing that sort of turned me off was that the pricing seemed a bit steep. But I thought “Eh, I’m only gonna be here one time, most likely! So let’s give it a shot!”
The service from the moment I walked in was superb! I was greeted and treated like family as soon as I walked into the establishment! I did not feel uncomfortable at all for choosing to dine in (as I have in other restaurants). The establishment itself had a cozy feel! Exactly what I felt like a pizza parlor should feel like. Not too many customers inside (which could be seen as an omen but I spent about an hour here and witnessed several take outs and a few others choosing to dine in during my time here) and that made for a quiet, comfortable environment where I could have my thoughts and not lose them!
I ordered the Monster Stromboli (which is basically a toasted sandwich), an order of their cheese and 1 topping stuffed bread sticks (cause they said their dough was home made so I had to give the dough a try somehow), and a drink!
I started with the stuffed bread sticks and OMG! That dough was amazing! I loved every second I had a scrumptious bite in my mouth! I dipped it in pizza sauce but I can tell you that you do not need it! It was fabulous on it’s own!
The stromboli had loads of meet and pepperocini’s bursting with flavor with every bite! The bread got a little bit overcooked but it did not ruin the sandwich, instead adding that little bit of crunch and munch I love from a toasted sandwich!
When all was said and done and I thought I had seen the most of my service, the lady comes around asking me how my meal was, and slides a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie towards me! I felt like I was home!
I wanted to drop this down to a 4 star for the pricing alone but…the quality and the loving service is what you paying for! Do not let the prices scare you away! You need 54 Pizza Express in your life! Thank you for an amazing lunch! I wish you guys the best!

Everything we order & every time we go to 54 Pizza, it’s great!! Pasta, sandwiches, pizza, salads even dessert is always delicious! If you haven’t tried 54 Pizza, you are missing out!!

Kind and considerate! We went to get supper and to use a gift card that was given to us. We ordered a few different items off the menu and were informed that the pizza we ordered had been accidentally dropped. They quickly made a new one and brought it out to us. The woman working the counter was very kind and gave us free brownies as a thank you for us being understanding about the pizza. I highly recommend 54 Pizza. The food is quality, the staff treat you like family, and the dine in area is relaxed and child-friendly.

Ty was our cook, server, and absolute rock star! This was our first trip to 54 Pizza Express and I cannot emphasize enough what a terrific young man this is to represent this establishment. He was friendly, warm, and unfailingly cheerful. We ate in and can attest that his attitude towards every person entering the store was exemplary.
We haven’t even addressed the pizza Ty prepared for us! Ooey, gooey goodness in every bite. We were stuffed before he appeared with a smile AND warm chocolate chip cookies!
What else can we tell you? Great atmosphere, fantastic food, and outstanding customer service experience, all thanks to Ty!
If you could arrange an all expenses paid vacation, plus a new car and a six-figure bonus for him soon… it still wouldn’t be enough.

4 breadsticks. One of them was the little burnt end piece. And a 8 inch pizza. 24 dollars. Could’ve gotten a better and larger pizza from somewhere else for that price.

Family-friendly is an understatement when describing 54 Pizza Express. Ours was a unique situation as we were visiting from out of town on a Sunday, a day which they are always closed. However this Lord’s Day, the owners graciously opened their doors to us and our fellow classmates from a nearby seminary. The pepperoni pizza was stacked, cheesy and delicious. The EBA (Everything but Anchovies) was awesome and a tasty cookie to finish it all off. This is the type of establishment you think of when you say pizzeria. Generous sizes, fountain sodas and all the fixings. Definitely would go again and again.

Meatballs were served dry and hard. (Pets got a treat that they enjoyed) Thrown straight from a bag to the oven and in a box. Wings- skin was stretchy and unsure they were even done as they weren’t even browned at all. Could not eat those. Pizza was fine, red sauce was flavorful and the garlic butter was good. The breadsticks with cheese were disappointing. Barely any cheese and seemed to have been sitting. Employees were prompt, professional and kind. Building was clean and atmosphere was casual. It’s a pass on recording for us.

I love 54 Pizza and order their pizza for pick up often. I rarely eat in the store but did today. I stopped for a late lunch and to relax. The deluxe stromboli was delicious. I ordered a small and it was huge! I also got a free warm cookie by dining in.
