The name says it all! Step inside & be transported back in time to a less complicated time. Always seems to be a bit busy, especially during lunch time (which speaks to how good the food is), but this may cause a bit of a wait. Otherwise, service is good & friendly, & the food is excellent! I got a burger & I didn’t get a bite that wasn’t loaded down with toppings, & my fries were cooked to perfection. I’d argue that they give any other restaurant in town a run for their money as the best place to get a burger & fries! I’ve heard good things about their other food, but the burger & fries are so good- that’s all I’ve ever gotten myself. If you’re in the area, recommend 10/10!

This place is a true gem. I’d honestly give it 5 stars…. If they stayed open later then 2pm. The food was spot on. Home cooking for sure. I highly recommend this place for breakfast at least.

If you’re looking for classic, home-cooked meals, look no further! We were looking for a “greasy spoon” type restaurant. The reviews were good, so we gave it a try. Oh, my goodness! The gravy was like what Granny used to make in her cast iron skillet. Homemade biscuits, too! When the place is full of the local, older generation, you know it’s gonna be good! Service was excellent. Keith, the owner, came by to see if we were satisfied. Oh yes! Decor was local and fitting. Everything was clean, the bathroom was clean and decorated perfectly. We couldn’t have asked for better! They serve breakfast and lunch. On Wednesdays Keith said he serves a pork chop that’s an inch and a half thick that’s been marinating in a brine for 2 days. Holy smokes…

Service was great. People real nice. I had the 50s sandwich, which was very flavorful. I had hoped for their chicken salad sandwich, which they are well known for, but they only serve that on Fridays. Prices are quite reasonable. It’s a little noisy there at lunchtime, but has a good 50s vibe.

Fun local diner with friendly, helpful staff. They are open from 7am-2 pm during the week serving breakfast and lunch. Because of limited staff the diner is temporarily closed on Saturday. The breakfast menu has a lot of choices and very reasonably priced. We enjoyed the home cooking and welcoming atmosphere.

This is our lunch stop every year when we head to the mountains to get our Christmas tree. The stuffed pimento cheeseburger is so good! Madge is the best! Highly recommend if you are close by and love diners.

We walked in at 1:40 pm and they close at 2. Welcomed us, 2 adults 3 kids without hesitation! Could have easily said it too close to closing time. 3 of us had Philly Cheesesteak and 2 had burgers. All was on point and was never rushed at all. Would definitely visit again if in the area. $60 with tip for 5 people.

50’s Snack Bar is a quaint hometown restaurant. They offer a little of something for everyone. It was a recommendation from one of my customers. I found the records and album jackets in the bathroom to be a unique throwback touch. They support the NC HWY Patrol – that’s a thumbs up right there !!!

One of a few places to eat in town (not counting chains here).
They have local foods, like grits & livermush.
Service was good as well.

Great homeade gravy and biscuits. They serve my absolute favorite country ham. Took my nephew out for breakfast and they made sure to make it special for the little man. He loved his snowman pancake she brought out for him.
