Was referred to check out this place for the first time, for their food. Looked clean, has a friendly atmosphere. Quick service to bring chips and salsa. Asked for the hottest salsa, the busser forgot to bring it. Had to ask again when food order was brought to the table. Ordered the beef burrito along with chimmi chunga beans and rice platter. Just about half way into my plate the busser cleaned up the table close to us with a strong pungent cleaning agent. Had to ask for a Togo box. The manager apologized and gave us both half price for the meals. Be willing to try them again. Wish the restaurants of Marshall town would understand that want to smell the authinniciesty of their food. Not the smell/taste of their bathroom cleaners in the air.

Highly recommend for exquisite food. Queso is a must with the chips and salsa. Bring an appetite and good company, and this place can be life changing… I’m partial to the Chapo Guzman, however every dish I have had so far has been magical.

We arrived, unbooked, as a group of 8 and were immediately made to feel welcome and valued. Nacho chips, sauces and water were brought out while we perused the moderately extensive menus.
Explaining various options and just what the ‘food was’ was done calmly, politely and ever so helpfully…. And I got to experience and enjoy authentic hot Mexican food. It was an absolute pleasure dining at Plaza Mexico – all fully satiated and Happy diners.
We’ll return for sure…

Food was okay, the flavor and quality were good. The portions were very good, but the cost seemed a tad high for what it was. The waitress we had was pretty good.They could be a little better on cleanliness in the dining area. I saw dried food on the wall in our booth. Overall the experience was good.

Out of all the years that I’ve lived in Marshalltown, I have never been to this restaurant, and I regret it! Great helpful staff, smiles on their faces, clean environment, tends to your restaurant experience by adding great costumer service, and the food was so delicious, I recommend anyone trying it if you have not been here! This place is fabulous!! I absolutely love Plaza Mexico! Keep up the amazing work!!

When this place first opened I had gone a few times and loved it. I since moved out of state and while on vacation decided to eat here with a few friends. The quality has definitely gone down and it is just a basic American Mexican restaurant now. Authentic is not a word I would use to describe this location. They also used to serve free fried ice cream dessert and that is no longer a thing, at least not the last time I went.

Got the beef sope was Awesome great Flavor. My daughter got shrimp with a creamy sauce it was amazing flavorful. It was late night and the food was still top notch and didn’t disappoint!!!

Never been inclined to write a review. We found plaza Mexico after a soccer game. Fantastic place for a group, even better food and the service was outstanding. Topped off a filling meal with complimentary ice cream. Don’t miss this place, it’s doing everything right!
