Absolutely outstanding experience at 4K Yakiniku Bar & Grill. The quality of the meats is top tier, incredibly fresh, perfectly marbled, and packed with flavor. Everything we grilled came out tender and delicious, and the sauces and sides complemented the dishes beautifully. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. Clean atmosphere, great vibe, and consistently excellent food. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an amazing yakiniku experience in Hilo.

Fun family dinner with older kids who have the patience for the grilling (several plate meals are available for those who don’t). We ordered bacon wrapped asparagus, pork belly, chuck tail, garlic shrimp and beef tongue along with fried rice, kimchi. Salad and miso soup.
Service was friendly and attentive. The meats were delicious and the ponzu sauce was a good accompaniment. We all enjoyed!

Top notch. The owners wife was our waitress and she was fantastic. Super personable. Explained the menu to us really well for us new timers on this experience. I have some weird food allergies and she checked everything for me. Food was super super good. The brisket with marinade and veggies was to die for. Pricing was most competitive we’ve seen on the island yet. Only complaint is the booths were a little high compared to the table but that’s getting nit picky. Highly recommend and will probably go again during our week here.

Absolutely wonderful service — Maddy, the other server, and the host were all so friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The food hit the spot, especially after a long ride around the islands of Hawai‘i — perfect late-night comfort. What really made the experience stand out was the atmosphere; it felt like a true local hangout where everyone treats you like family. Can’t wait to come back.

Worth checking out for a change from the resort food, or if you live in the area. Super friendly service and it’s really fun to grill your own meats right at the table. Lots of TV’s for sports watching.

Came here for our Fourth of July celebration dinner – what a disappointment!
The good: We were seated immediately.
The bad: Everything else. Waited 15 minutes for our server to even acknowledge us while watching other tables get great service from different servers. When food came, no plates provided so we couldn’t start eating.
Food quality was terrible – soup served cold, got the hard bottom rice from the pot, and $12 brisket came with only 3 thin strips. Several menu items already unavailable despite just opening.
Server had zero product knowledge. Asked about beer selection – didn’t know what they had. Asked about well rum – said “whatever the distributor gave them.” Really unprofessional.
No mixed drinks menu at all (they’re “still working on it”), and the well drink we got was watery. Not much of a “bar and grill” without proper drinks.
The final straw: Check charged us $22 for pupu clams that were $12 on the menu. Server apologized when we caught it, but we would’ve been overcharged if we didn’t check.
I get it’s their first day, but cold food, billing errors, and unprofessional service ruined our holiday dinner. Needs major work before they’re ready for customers.

Took my 11 year old here. Wasn’t sure what to expect and we’d never been to this type of restaurant before. Our server was very kind and attentive and offered suggestions: Had the beef chuck and chicken breast. Was pleasantly surprised that it included soup, rice, kimchi and sauce. Edamame was delicious and mac salad was solid. Looks like they addressed a lot of the early issues in these reviews. Glad we went.

The bartenders are personable and have big personalities. You won’t forget your time here.
If you enjoy karaoke or hot pot, this is the place to be. The hours are fantastic and you will get a more authentic Hawaiian experience compared to other establishments.
