4J’s have new owners and new name ( not updated). It is now Johnson Brothers. I knew the previous owners and they sold it last year. However, I just tried this new place the past weekend and the food was good. The Mac & cheese was more like home made soul food, the baked beans were delish and the chicken and sliced beef were good. The only thing I didn’t like was they put the sauce on the side instead of dabbing it on the meat, or dipping it in the sauce. They probably would though. That was my first time.

Ok!! All have to say about this place is…
Just Do It!! Wow, just Wow!!
The meat is tender (almost fallin off the bone tender! ), the flavor is perfect (for me at least) and the sliced beef is beyond good!
If you know anything about good BBQ or Burgers in LA county (like Hawkins)… call in your order or go and order at the window but be prepared to wait. It’s worth it!!

The person at the window was friendly and prompt. I was so disappointed cause the BBQ was bland as well as the sauce .I had rib tops and 1/2 lbs of brisket. The brisket was thin sliced no flavor. To bad was hoping for better.

Definitely not worth the money. Spent $35.00 fir 2 ribs and a meat plate with 2 sides. They give toddler size sides, not even a palm full worth. BBQ was very disappointing. It was tender but just poured BBQ sauce over it. No carmelized meat. Drove about a half hour to eat here and was very disapointed. Ended up giving away the food and going to Jack in the Box. Very disappointed.

This Owner Operated Restaurant has incredible tasting food due to the huge smoker that he has inside for the meats…very personal service and down home friendly attitude…this is my go to barbecue place in Compton
This is basically a walk up, take out restaurant but I think you can order ahead online or by phone..everything is made to order and always fresh..the meat just litterly falls off the bone and the sauce is awesome.

We come in this area to get our taxes done each year, but we’ve never eaten here. I got the bbq brisket lunch. It comes with two sides – I got greens and mac & chs – and two slices of bread. The brisket was tender and the sides were delish. I also got a peach cobbler cheesecake dessert. You have to order the dessert separately cuz it’s a different business but still in the same spot. It was yummy too! Guess we’ll be making it a yearly eating spot!!

This is a low key jem. I have no clue what the hours of operation are but I was driving by and saw it was open. I ordered the ribs 3piece. It came with 2 slices of bread. Its seems a little pricey but was well worth it. I will return the next time I see open.
