Pros: Food was fantastic with massive portions (the brewpub fries were a standout), server was very friendly, atmosphere was great.

Cons: Entrance was quite crowded and hectic, and some staff were very brisk in their service.

Overall wonderful dining experience. Wish we had more room in our stomachs to try more!

Finally went to this place after living here for a couple of years now. I don’t drink much so never had a reason to visit but glad I did. I came here for my anniversary. Amazing atmosphere, super chill even for a large restaurant. Service was excellent. Everything about this place was awesome. Highly recommend visiting, even if you don’t drink. Get the Elk burger and the chocolate mousse for dessert.

Definitely coming back here on future visits. Amazing beer, whiskey, and food menus. I had their Yak burger, I could barely fit my mouth around it as the burger was huge. Their apple fritter beer is amazing if you like those types of beer. Atmosphere and the views were amazing, a must stop if you’re in Anchorage!

While visiting Anchorage I was able to come to 49th state brewing multiple times. The beautiful Alaskan King crab was superb and the elk lasagna were both great picks! I have also had their calamari, deep fried halibut and blackened halibut tacos. Everything I have eaten here has been great. The views on a clear day are also beautiful! Beers are great and staff are super friendly!

I *want* to love 49th State Brewery so much. The space is great, the vibe is fun, and honestly—the food is really good. That’s what makes this so frustrating. Every time I come here, the service is a complete trainwreck.

A few months ago, I had one of the strangest service interactions I’ve ever experienced. Our server would not let me set my water glass anywhere except directly on the coaster. I’m not exaggerating, she watched me set it down at a nearby table, came over, picked it up, moved it onto the coaster, looked at me, and said it *had* to go on the coaster. This happened more than once. It got to the point where it felt uncomfortable and bizarre, like she literally would not let it go.

Then on Super Bowl Sunday, I came in about 2.5 hours after opening, before the rush, but specifically for the half-price apps promo that was being advertised everywhere. The bartender had no idea what I was talking about. Instead of taking two minutes to ask a manager, he kept saying, “we will figure it out” to me and then to two other groups at the bar who asked the same thing. Eventually he came back and said he “heard” it didn’t start until 2pm. I told him the website and Facebook event clearly said 11am until end of game, and again… “we will figure it out.”

To be fair, I *did* get the discount in the end, but it shouldn’t be that hard. Promotions should be communicated to staff, and basic questions shouldn’t feel like such a struggle every single visit.

This place has so much potential, and the food really is good, but the service consistently feels undertrained, unprepared, and chaotic. I keep giving it another chance because I want it to be great, but at some point, the service has to catch up to the food.

No complaints about my experience here! The elk burger is absolutely phenomenal. The salmon fish and chips were also great. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Plenty of seating so our party of 8 was seated after a short wait. Happy with the visit and would consider going again if I am in Anchorage again!

In my opinion, this is the best restaurant in Anchorage. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the attention to detail is outstanding. During my stay, I visited three times—each time I considered trying another place but kept coming back because of the quality and consistency. While many restaurants in Anchorage don’t have the best ratings, this one truly stands out. I highly recommend it—the food is amazing, and the blueberry pie is an absolute must-try.

A local brewery offering an impressive variety of excellent craft beers, this spot features an expansive menu with unique Alaskan choices like elk stew, yak burgers, various crab dishes, etc. Over several visits, the food quality has consistently exceeded expectations. The warm wooden decor with some open fire pits creates cozy ambiance, while the staff provides efficient and courteous service. Definitely worth visiting – it appears to be a popular hub for evening activity in town. Reservation is recommended on Friday and weekend nights.

Disappointed in this restaurant. Had to wait about 25 minutes for a table, which I didn’t mind, but the only area left to wait with chairs was across from the restrooms. 25 minutes of sitting next to the RR was a turn off. Please take the seats away from this area, it’s not a pleasant place to wait for a table before dining. Once we were seated I Had the Adventure Beer Flight and all of the selections were really good! I ordered fish and chips. The fish was just OK, the fries were awesome, and the Cole slaw was inedible, the flavor was off. No one else at the table liked it either. My wife had Mac and cheese and it was incredibly bland, it was thick like paste and she couldn’t finish it. Service was lacking and we went long periods without contact from our server. When we finally got our bill we paid and left without complaint so we could get checked into our hotel. When looking at our receipt noticed a 3.9% service charge that I had no idea what it was for (we only had 4 people in our party) and I was charged for fry sauce. When I was offered fry sauce our server never said it would be an up-charge. Just not a great experience here and can’t recommend.

Fairly good place. Very popular and busy. We sat on the rooftop. The halibut fish and chips was average. The Chicken bowl was fantastic! My son had the Yak burger and liked it, but couldn’t finish it because it was so big. I’d recommend this place if you’re in Anchorage
