All the meats were phenomenal. I’ve just arrived back in the south after 22 years, and finally got some BBQ. Plus the employees heard me ask about vinegar for my collards, and they walked some.out to me without any request. Excellent service- excellent food, and I definitely recommend!

Passing through Tallahassee and I was in the mood for BBQ. Google recommended mission and 4 Rivers. I’ve had mission before so I’d figure I’d try 4 Rivers Smokehouse. This was clearly a disastrous mistake. While I wouldn’t call it busy, there were only 4 orders before mine, I noticed too late that none of those orders were for the St. Louis style ribs, but that was what I was in the mood for so I ordered it. It looked okay it wasn’t until I started eating them did I find out why no one was ordering them. Can you tell from the second photo? Dried and burt to smithereens! There are pieces of rib that are melted on the bone. Not “fall off the bone” here. Every rib presented a challenge in guessing if it was so dry and burnt that I could eat it. I ended up leaving two ribs completely untouched because it was just terrible. I don’t live here so I don’t have to worry about coming back but you, would be diner, you should avoid the ribs here completely. People seemed to enjoy the other food offered so if you have to eat here, order something else. I paid $40+ for this level of disappointment. Employees were friendly enough, greeted me and remained pleasant during my brief encounter. The don’t offer wipes for your hands and instead provides a sink for you to wash your hands in which I found interesting. Sides were good though. I’ve reviewed maybe a dozen BBQ joints over the years, and this is by far the lowest rating I’ve ever given. Huh regional chain… no clue. It’s funny as I sit and write this review, I can watch a dozen or more people enter, they clearly doing something right, just not the ribs.

I had heard about 4 Rivers Smokehouse but never tried it but my friend had been here previously and liked it, so we went there.
We both had St. Louis Ribs seasoned with 4R All Purpose Rub, smoked and finished on the grill with a Honey BBQ sauce. You can get either a 1/4.1/2, or full rack. Very good ribs.
Choice of 2 sides; 4R BBQ Beans, Mac & Cheese, Texas Cornbread, Collard Greens, Southern Coleslaw, Baked Cheese Grits, Southern Green Beans, Fried Okra, Sweet Potato Casserole, Smokehouse Corn, Cheesy Potatoes, or French Fries $2.99 extra. Got the baked beans and corn, nice size portions .
Definitely would come back .

4R has the best fries ever. The pulled chicken quesadilla has a phenomenal smokey taste. The hot bbq sauce in the bottles is some of my favorite bbq sauce. The workers are very kind. This is our second visit in a month. It’s a little pricey but delicious.

We went here this past Friday (12/05/25) and both had a really good meal and all around great experience.
I had the 2+2 combo which lets you choose 2 meats and 2 sides. I had pulled chicken, burnt ends, collard greens and cheesy potatoes. Both of the meats were really good. I particularly liked how the chicken was so tender and not over sauced. The greens were the weak link, but still 7 out of 10. Kelli got the burnt ends too along with sweet potato casserole and baked beans. She said it was all really good.
The best part was one the employees, Daje. She was fantastic! She checked on us several times and brought us a couple of samples of other items that we will now have to return to try. She is the ideal employee; super sweet, attentive and knowledgeable about the restaurant. Management needs to recognize her because we will be back partly because of how wonderful she was.

Not as great as I was hoping it would be. I have celiac (no gluten!) and am a vegan, so it’s often a struggle to find somewhere to eat. I was very excited to try here, however, because they have gluten free and vegan burnt ends. I ordered this, along with smokehouse corn (their only gluten free and vegan side), but didn’t get much. The cup of corn was full, but I got very little burnt ends – perhaps because I ordered it without a bun? Service was great, and it tasted pretty good, I was just hoping for more, in terms of how much food I got. The other two people I went with got much larger portions, it seemed (no dietary restrictions). Overall, I was underwhelmed.

I stop at 4RS anytime I am visiting in town. They have a Cuban (with BBQ sauce for dipping – yumm) that is scrumptious. Today’s visit I met Katelynn. She was friendly, engaging, and absolutely delightful. What a great spirit and wonderful representation for the restaurant. The whole team on staff today were great, truly. Katelynn just stood out a bit extra!

Placed a large to go order (feeding 10) and the food was ready on time, hot and the staff who helped me were so nice! Bbq was good as always; we had brisket, pulled pork and the sausage which is always a big hit. Sides were good and went quickly. The baby back ribs are my favorite but we decided on a party pack instead. It’s all good!

Ok so here is the scoop. I love everything about 4rivers. The food is amazing. My friend had it for their wedding it was also done beautifully!! With that being said!! Don’t go there on lunch. It’s slammed to the doors. The only way to order is on the app. That’s the only way around the lunch rush. Other than lunch time it’s super manageable!

Started coming here in search of some good collard greens for my grandmother, heard that they had bread pudding, and decided to give that a whirl.
My grandmother says it’s the best bread pudding she’s had since her mother died, and I think that’s a real testament to how great the food is here.
Ordered a few times now, and hoping to become a regular, everyone I’ve met and dealt with has been super nice, friendly, and helps everyone they interact with feel at home even when there’s a crowd.
