Today, my family of five came in for the breakfast buffet that runs until noon. We arrived at 10:45 and were told to sit anywhere we wanted. After we sat, the waitress handed us menus. We informed her that we were there for the buffet, but she explained that they didn’t have one today, even though the menu listed that they did. Not wanting to be rude, we proceeded to order from the menu.
We ordered drinks, and I had regular coffee, black. One family member ordered chocolate milk. Two of the simplest drinks, and the waitress returned after about 9 minutes to say there wasn’t enough milk for a full glass and that she would give what she could. This family member is pregnant and needed milk to help with nausea—there was no real drama here, just an inconvenience.
When my coffee arrived, it contained a large amount of coffee grounds at the bottom, which made me spit it out—the taste was the worst I’ve ever had (see photo). The rest of the visit declined from there. The biscuits and gravy were grainy and cold, the sausage bowls were cold, and there was a mix-up with the order (we had asked for two sausage bowls but received one bacon and one sausage due to a misread note). They forgot the hash browns for the Marty Crisco, and the turkey on it was rock hard. Honestly, this was one of the worst dining experiences my family has had. This was our Christmas breakfast, and it ended up sour and disappointing.

We happened to be in Mondovi last week. We stopped at the saloon on Friday afternoon because we heard that the fish was good. There was a small crowd and we found that we knew the bartender. We each ordered fish, which came with potato, bun, beans and coleslaw. It came out quickly and it was all very good. We will certainly return when we get to Mondovi again.

It’s more of a restaurant than a saloon, with a rustic decor and a very basic menu that is very breakfast oriented and a salad bar with about 10 toppings, including the sunflower seed, croutons and bacon bits.
When my family ate there, the biggest issue was the service. Everyone got their food, but one person had to wait for over half an hour. When I asked the waitress about the status of the missing entree, she replied that the cook had forgotten about it and that he was cooking it and it would be done in “just a few minutes.” A mere 10 minutes later, the entree came out.
What makes this experience worse is that there were two other groups at the restaurant, both had two people. Both of them got their food before the person at our table got theirs. So either getting the missing entree out was very low priority, or the cook couldn’t make more than 2 entrees at a time.

We live near Eau Claire area but we go to mondovi Family Restaurant because the food is absolutely wonderful as well as the portions and the service is amazing, last night we didn’t know that they were closed for an employee Christmas party so we ended up at 4 kegs and we should have just went home because it started with my meal which I ordered the turkey dinner the turkey came out hard on the edges and it was like pretty sliced turkey off of a turkey roll, I told the waitress about it she brought me back a piece of moist sliced turkey and it wasn’t very warm but okay I ate it I was hungry.My husband had the Monday meat skillet which tasted okay, in the middle of the night my stomach was not very good, today at 3:00 my husband’s stomach was horrible and I won’t go into details all I’m saying is how is this place still open? And I’ve read the other reviews and I should have read them before going there.. never again
