Ok so I stayed at the Westin for my first visit to Chicago (4days) and can I tell you what my favorite restaurant was?! 320 RiverBar….don’t get me wrong the Chicago dogs, Italian beefs and deep dish was fantastic but any “finer” dining place was actually a little disappointing. But not at 320 I hate there for breakfast (cause it was easy) and it was GREAT (Avocado toast and omelettes) the drink were tremendous and well made and I have the cheese burger (fancier of the two I forget the name) all of this was great, service was great, one day we met a manager, Michael Carruthers, and was a nice touch to the general ambience and warmth in the room! Would love to stay at the hotel again but even if we didn’t, I’ll be back for food and drinks!

20250423 post for the last three nights.
I have eaten at the 320 River Kitchen (part of the bar) three times, once for breakfast and twice for dinner.

4/21, Isreal waited on me for my first dinner, and he was fantastic. Patient, timed food, talked through choices, put a napkin in my lap, filled my water glass regularly, everything. Isreal was great.

That night, I ordered the miso salmon. Its roasted bok choy was a little damp, and the sweet miso glaze was a bit heavy.

The management bought me an apple cobbler with ice cream. The ice cream and parts of the cobbler were coated with a carmelized hard candy. While tasty, the cobbler oats topping could have been crunchy instead of like oat meal.

4/22, for breakfast, I had lox and cream cheese with a fried egg on a bagel. Being an open faced sandwich, it was messy, as open faced sandwiches often are. The egg was not overcooked.

4/23, the waiter was not too attentive, and the music wasn’t appropriate (dance club electronic remixes – House). It was distracting if not annoying. I ordered the hanger steak medium-rare. It came with some truffle fries, and I ordered the pumpkin cheese cake, which was decorated with pumpkin & peanut brittle and chantilly cream.

I thought the hanger steak would be bigger (for 40 bucks), yet it was properly cooked, a quality cut, and satisfying. I had greater aspirations for the cheese cake than it could meet. Still. I am glad I tried it.

320 River Bar offers a pleasant ambiance situated by the river, although the lack of a view directly from the bar was a bit disappointing. While I was let down that they couldn’t make an egg white whiskey sour, a seemingly standard cocktail, I found solace in their friendly and efficient bartender. The menu’s pricing, however, raised eyebrows, notably the $17 charge for a Jim Beam Old Fashioned. Although the beer taps were decent, they could use a bit more variety or selection to enhance the overall experience. Despite these drawbacks, the atmosphere is inviting, and the service is prompt, making it a decent spot for a casual drink

Lovely restaurant with a riverview patio, and indoor seating. Located on the main floor of the westin hotel. Classy service, friendly staff and just a great location to chill on the patio. This is also the restaurant that services room service orders for westin guests.

Perfect stop for a refreshing Aperol spritz on the rooftop patio, overlooking the river. Perfect weather on this Chicago trip made it even better! Nice place inside and out. I cannot vouch for the food, but good drinks and nice atmosphere.

Outdoor patio has a nice view and was in shade in the afternoon. However the drinks were pretty poorly mixed, especially the Moscow mule and the Gimlet. Would not return because so pricey for difficult to drink cocktails.

Good burger but the patties were too salty. Good fries and aioli.

My boyfriend and I have spent four nights at this hotel, and we wanted to take the opportunity to shout out the best bartender we have had during our stay! Dovile is one of the sweetest and helpful bartenders we have had in Chicago! We really hope her management and employers know how lucky they truly are to have her on their team!

Venito absolutely MADE our dining experience! Despite having every table inside and out he managed to create a great experience for us. The food was fantastic and the room looks south across the river at the city. A+++
