Visited based on reviews but it seemed like generic sushi. The menu items on line are much more presentable, look differen than what it served. It was good, but lacked the flavor. The Tuna Tataki was salty. Portion sizes were on the smaller size. We had the Tuna Tataki, Sake Salmon, Torched Salmon Maki, Shitake Mushroom Maki. I wouldn’t personally visit again. The staff was nice.

very pricey but very high quality! probably the best quality sushi I’ve had in Chicago tbh— you’re definitely getting your money’s worth quality-wise. everything, the fish, obviously, the rice, and even down to the wasabi and soy sauce, everything is fantastic.
I will say that it’s strange that this place in inside of 88 Market tho, as typically this kind of store would be more of a casual take-out spot, but this is a “we’re going out for a fine dining experience” spot lol.

This gem is tucked away in an unassuming Chinese grocery store food court. Ordered Unagi don, Chirashi, and Salmon krudo. All amazing.

Unagi don was probably the best I had in recent years. This is miles above the frozen unagi that you can buy from grocery stores. The fish has great texture. The sauce was not overpowering. The rice had little bits of pickled radishes, elevating the whole flavor.

Chirashi was about $10 more expensive, but it had many high quality and expensive fish types. Again the rice had bits of pickled radish.

Salmon krudo was also amazing. Whatever they did in terms of the flavor, they did it right.

This place is great! The sushi is fresh and they have so much variety and options. Have been coming here more than 4 times now. Love their otoro flights and the sushi platter which is great for sharing with friends. This is BYOB and they have a lot of seating. It’s located inside 88 Marketplace

Located off Chinatown in Jefferson Square (looks like a warehouse) in 88 Marketplace, I have been here before for the food court, such a disappointment.

But 312 Fishmarket has arguably some of the freshest nigiri I have had in the city albeit the pieces are kinda small but the umami is all there. These 7 pieces was north of $70 (pricey to say the least) and it easily could have been twice that!! Included is market price A5 wagyu and uni (my fave and not your run-of-the mill sushi joints serve nor AYCEs carry this).

The ambiance is a bit out of sorts tucked in a food court and their main thoroughfare goes to the public washroom, so it gets lotsa foot traffic and can get cramped!

Nonetheless, wonderful nigiri!

10/10 would recommend. Some of the better sushi that I’ve had in a long time. It’s good quality, well made sushi which is all it needs to be.

Are their fancier places that have twice the menus size, yes absolutely. However if you are looking for a spot that is consistent and genuinely good tasting clean sushi, 312 is the best spot you can hit up. Not to mention the benefit of being able to shop right after.

Wanted to start the new year with a good meal. It’s possible that only the party platters are comparable to gas station quality, but for $172, it was highly disappointing.

Would not order from here again with so many other options in the area.

Best sushi in Chicago, without question! The freshest fish are flown in daily and the level of care and precision during crafting each sushi roll is unmatched. So delicious and flavorful. They have kid-friendly options as well for young sushi explorers. The presentation is so beautiful and artful each time. The staff is phenomenal and welcoming and friendly. They are responsive and happy to answer questions.

Today is 10/24/2025.
They gave me packs of soy sauce that were already expired 5 months ago.

I know soy sauce doesn’t go bad easily, so I could understand if it was just a few days past the date — but five months is a bit much.

This place has been one of my favorite to-go restaurants, but now I’m really concerned about the freshness of their food. We have no way of knowing where else they might be using expired products.

The fish itself is very fresh, and the nigiri is amazing, well worth the time to come here and don’t let its initial look (inside a market) fool you, they import their fish from Japan! The chirashi had too much onion and radish in the rice for me to enjoy though, covered the taste of the fish so it knocks a star off for that.
