Reviews
Came in at about 7pm on a Tuesday. Restaurant was on the busy side, but not packed, and I got a table right away close to the bar.
Bartender was my server….he was really nice, made good suggestions, and was very attentive to refills and dirty plates, but not in an overbearing way. Very good service.
I ordered edemame (no salt), papaya salad, pad Thai with (crispy) tofu, and the mango ice cream for dessert.
Edemame was good – little mushy, and they missed the no salt request, but it wasn’t drowning in it, so I dealt.
Papaya salad was very tasty. I’ve had some before that are just drowning in liquid, but this one was light and fresh.
Pad Thai was also good. As others have mentioned, it’s on the slightly sweet side – that’s not a bad thing, just different than others I’ve had. I wish it would have had more peanut and egg: it was presented well and had a good amount of tofu.
For dessert, I settled for the mango ice cream. I say settled, because I was very excited to get the mango sticky rice, but they were out the night I went! So, that said, the ice cream was very good for what it was.
Overall, very pleased with my dinner experience at 26 Thai. It’ll be good to come back next time I’m in town.
Anyway, food is great! We ordered calamari, chicken satay, and papaya salad. We love the pineapple boat with crispy chicken and the short rib.
We ordered the Lychee Martini and the Passion Fruit cocktail. Both were beautifully presented and full of flavor. We shared the Roti with Panang Curry, Drunken Noodles with Shrimp, and Fried Rice with Chicken. Everything was delicious; the Drunken Noodles were a bit on the spicy side even without extra chili, but still very enjoyable.
The restaurant, set in a converted two-story home, has such a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. It’s perfect for a casual but elevated dinner. There’s also paid parking conveniently located right next to the restaurant, which makes the visit even easier.
Overall, it’s a great spot for anyone craving authentic Thai food and well-crafted drinks in Midtown. Highly recommend.
As to the food the wings were fried to a nice crisp and the sauce was a great balance of sweet and spicy. The basil fried rice was flavorful and the perfect amount of spice. Dan was an excellent server, as a food manager I was very impressed.
The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure we were taken care of without hovering. The restaurant itself was clean, cozy, and had a relaxing atmosphere that made the meal even better. My favorites were the Pad Thai, the creamy green curry, and the Thai tea. I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend if you want great food, great service, and a great overall experience.
