Some restaurants simply serve food. Others create an experience you can’t wait to repeat. Restaurant 255 by Alta Rossa Ristorante does both beautifully.
This wonderful family-owned Italian restaurant has something you don’t find everywhere anymore: heart. From the moment you walk in, you feel genuinely welcomed. It feels like stepping into a classic Italian mama and papa restaurant, yet with a subtle modern elegance that makes the space feel warm, refined, and inviting.
One thing that truly impressed me is their commitment to consistency. They proudly promise that if you fall in love with a dish today, it will taste exactly the same the next time you come back. That kind of dedication in the kitchen says everything about the pride they take in their food.
The service was exceptional. Honestly, if I could give 10 stars I would. Our server Daniel was outstanding—attentive, welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in making sure we had a wonderful experience.
And the food… this is real Italian food. Not the watered-down version you sometimes find. Everything tasted fresh, authentic, and clearly made in-house.
The pasta was incredible, perfectly cooked with that ideal Italian texture and coated in rich, balanced sauces that make every bite satisfying.
But the dessert completely stole the show. Easily one of the best desserts I’ve had in a long time. The balance of flavors was beautiful and, best of all, it wasn’t overwhelmingly sweet. It was elegant and refined—the kind of dessert that makes you slow down and truly savor every bite.
What makes this place special is the perfect balance between tradition and modern touches, something you feel in the ambience, the presentation of the food, and even in the desserts.
The ambience, the service, the authenticity of the food, and the attention to detail make Restaurant 255 by Alta Rossa a truly memorable dining experience.
The price is absolutely worth it for the level of quality and care you receive.
One important tip: make reservations in advance. This place is clearly no longer a hidden gem.

255 is one of my favourite Italian restaurants in Vaughan! I’ve been here a few times and have been impressed every single visit. My go-to dishes are the ricotta-stuffed gnocchi in rosé sauce (truly to die for) and the rigatoni in truffle sauce — both incredible. The 255 martini is also delicious!
The customer service is always excellent, and the ambience is warm and inviting. I visited around Christmas and loved the beautiful lights and festive décor. Highly recommend!

10/10 recommend . We came to try out a new place for my son’s birthday, and we were blown away. The service was exemplary from the moment we walked in. Our server Marcelo was on point. Every app, meal and dessert that our party of 8 had was positively delicious!

Hands down the best Italian I’ve had in a while. The truffle rigatoni, stuffed gnocchi in rose sauce, and bruschetta were all bomb. Make sure to have their tiramisu as well! Staff were super friendly, and the owner even came by to check on everyone – such a nice touch. Great atmosphere and amazing food, can’t wait to go back.

Highly recommend stopping in for dinner here. The menu is packed with fresh and flavorful dishes! I was highly impressed with not only the food, but the service. I had the Arugula salad and the fish feature of the day both 10/10. I finished up dinner with a fresh expresso martini.

My wife and I met cousins there for a lunch on Friday and were very pleased with everything. Gene, our waiter was on point, attentive but not ever present, very euro style in that respect. My wife had the chicken parm, great for rating restaurants on an Italian standard. She enjoyed well. I ordered the Osso Bucco and it was fabulous. A thick meaty piece on a bed of soft polenta with some roasted veggies to go with it. Mmmm. The bone was about 2” thick and filled with creamy marrow.
