We came here for dinner while staying in Newport for the weekend. Nice old school vibe, had a live singer when we were there Saturday night. Friendly staff, and good drink selections. We have a couple prime rib eyes that were cooked perfectly pink with a nice seared crust. Some oyster Rockefeller that tasted fresh, good flavors. The white truffle mac n cheese was done well, and the au gratin potatoes great with the steak.
Had to finish it off with the chocolate cake. Very rich and decadent. We were not disappointed.
It is right next to the pier, so you can take a little stroll after dinner if you’d like. And plenty of other bars around if you wanted to have some drinks and listen to some music.

In the 7 years I’ve been frequenting this place I have not once had a bad or even mediocre experience. Everything is done thoughtfully: the service is excellent, the decor/ambiance/vibes are cozy, warm and inviting. The food and drinks are seriously next-level. If it’s your first time, please go on a Friday or a Saturday night, get yourself a seat at the bar and enjoy live music, a perfect (slightly dirty) Hendricks martini with 2 blue cheese olives and an order of escargot. You’re welcome.

Great place for steaks, seafood, and sides. (Pretty sure the cocktails are great too, but we didn’t have any.) We went on a Saturday night in July and it was really, really busy in the area – so busy that it took about 20 minutes to get through the traffic and pedestrians in the last two blocks. There’s valet parking at the door, and the doorman checked to make sure we had a reservation just to enter. The interior is dark and classy, and the views of the ocean at sunset are awesome. My wife said her blackened swordfish was the best she ever had! I really enjoyed the prime rib eye steak and au gratin potatoes. However, the piano player in the northwest end of the room was shouting his songs, and everyone at the bar had to be even louder. The result was a really loud experience, and we watched several parties be seated near the piano only to ask for a quieter table. Still, we had a great meal.

We had a wonderful experience during our first visit to this restaurant. Even without a reservation, we were welcomed warmly, and the overall hospitality was excellent. The food was amazing, and we truly enjoyed the beautiful view, it’s a great place to dine.
However, I would like to offer one recommendation. It would be helpful for the staff to clarify what is included in certain dishes. We ordered the “Grilled Cauliflower Steak,” but there is no actual steak in the dish. While the flavor was excellent, the description was unclear, and a simple explanation from the waitress would have prevented any confusion.
Overall, we enjoyed our visit and appreciate the great service and ambiance.

Unfortunately, this place is not what it used to be. It has super slow service, very immature management and social media person when I told them about my less than ideal experience on my birthday dinner. I kept getting talked over, gaslit, and spoken to in a very rude and condescending tone. Such a shame since this restaurant has great food and used to have a great reputation. I would be embarassed beyond belief if this is how someone was treated in my establishment, let alone talked to like this on social media. They also blocked me, which is highly unprofessional. This could have and should have been handled with care and with grace, especially if I’m choosing to spend my time and money on a birthday dinner – and yes, even 2 days before Christmas as a solo diner. There are plenty of other places in Orange County to enjoy, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else unless you want to wait an hour for an appetizer and one glass of Cuvee and be spoken to rudely if there is a problem. The Cuvée was good though (luckily I’m a Somm so I knew what to pick) and the Ahi appetizer was also very good, despite the server rolling his eyes and sighing when I asked him what could be easily made that’s dairy free (I have an allergy). All in all, not a great experience and very unfortunate and unprofessionally handled. I know it’s the holidays and everyone is stressed and understaffed (despite there being open tables), I hope they can learn and grow from this situation and get new management that cares about the guest experience, especially when other workers there tell you “that should’ve never happened, that’s not how we do things here”. I wish I could’ve left with a better experience like I’ve had before.

Oceanfront 21 was an amazing find right on the boardwalk in Newport Beach
The ribeye with garlic mashed potatoes was absolutely delicious, and the Blue Whale cocktail was the perfect pairing—definitely made with love. The food, the drinks, and the oceanfront vibe made the whole experience even better. Aram was the best as well
If you’re looking for great food with a beautiful view, Oceanfront 21 is definitely worth checking out.

As a younger person going here, I’m already an anomaly amongst the 60+ retirement home crowd. The bartenders – great, the food – really nothing special, the vibe – awesome. I couldn’t recommend it more to friends who have no idea what this place is.
In my last visit, I had the unfortunate displeasure to cross paths with the Manager, Mark Lamb, who is the most condescending, rude person I’ve ever come in contact with at a restaurant. His inability to ~manage~ and then spontaneously combust onsite is unparallel (which others document in the reviews).
Ultimately, this exchange provided tunnel vision to how they prioritize their restaurant. They don’t actually care about providing a unique dining experience. They would rather do the bare minimum to extort the older crowd that comes here when they don’t know any better.
If you’re having a date night and you’re a younger couple expecting good food, lively atmosphere, and great service/dining experience; go to Joey, Cannery, Palmilla, Shorebird.
I now can’t recommend it less, unless its my grandpa… who then Mark Lamb might have a proper attitude.

Lip smacking gourmet meals paired with easily the best Espresso martini in town in a classic and regal style that is quite a refined contrast from the more boisterous joints in the neighborhood; sophisticated and smooth, would highly recommend.
