The HOMEMADE Onion Rings were so so yummy. The Ribeye Steak sandwich Big and prepared perfectly. They have a really great salad bar for this small town. Everyone is friendly and courteous. If you’re in the rural area of 209 Main in Paton, IA this place is Worth the stop.
First off, the table was dirty. Obviously, no one cleaned it up from the night before, as we were the first customers there that morning. Waitress came and wiped it down, so all good.
Ordered chicken fried steak, which came with gravy, hash browns, two eggs, and toast. Ordered eggs over medium. Order came, looked good, but the eggs were definitely over easy, which was not preferred but okay. Went downhill from there.
Hash browns were cold.
Eggs were cold.
Toast came out without butter; had to request jelly.
The chicken fried steak was hot, and excellent.
I took one bite of the cold hash browns and one bite of the cold eggs, and left the rest.
Waitress showed up at the end of the meal, and asked if I was finished. I said yes, and mentioned that I couldn’t eat the hash browns or eggs because they were cold. She said nothing, and took the plate away.
I was hoping for at least a bit of an apology for the cold food, but got nothing. It isn’t the waitresses fault, but a ‘sorry about that’ would have been nice.
Had she checked on us before the end of the meal, I would have asked for the items to be warmed up; but wasn’t given that opportunity.
Maybe they were just having a bad day, but based on only this visit, I won’t be going back any time soon.
This lil’ spot called 209 Main up in Paton, Iowa? Lawd have mercy—they got the kind of smoked chicken wings that’ll make you wanna slap your mama (but don’t do it, she raised you better).
I ain’t never in my life figured I’d roll up into Iowa and find wings this good. I mean it—meaty, juicy, smoky, and downright heavenly. These ain’t your average bar wings, no sir. These are the kind that make you close your eyes and thank the good Lord for taste buds.
I’m tellin’ you right now, if you’re huntin’ for wings that’ll ruin all other wings for you, just mosey on over to 209 Main and grab yourself a plate. You won’t regret it. Shoot, you might even start plannin’ your next trip back before you finish the last bite.
Bless their hearts—they know what they’re doin’.
The skin of the fried chicken tasted burnt.
I sent my hot beef back after 2 bites. Couldn’t quite place what was wrong – but it did not taste at all good. Even the guy at the table next to us said it didn’t taste right. The broccoli cheese soup was WAY too salty. Overall, I was extremely disappointed. This is the 2nd time I’ve been there that I couldn’t eat the food because it didn’t taste good. Oh – and only received a $4.00 discount for not being able to stomach the taste of the hot beef dinner. Our server/waitress was awesome.
