I am a regular customer at 1945RBL. This event I attended was a retirement party and birthday. The decor was amazing! Staff were nice, food was delicious! I’ve seen comments about a red headed bartender, 1945 doesn’t have a bartender with red hair nor does the staff drink alcohol, so I’m confused!

I wish I would have saved my money after visiting this place! The food was so weird tasting and poorly packaged. A few of the staff members were drunk and it was only around 5PM! I couldn’t hardly breathe with all the people smoking cigars in there. Just wild…the staff kept looking at me like I was crazy! Really bad vibes! It turned out to be a very bad experience! They literally should just be a bar and not serve food that humans can eat. I paid almost $35 for a chicken wing dinner and a can of coke! RIP OFF! See the attached picture of how the food was packaged and the nasty Mac and cheese. My chihuahua wouldn’t ever eat it!

I debated whether to share this, but I believe honesty shared with humility matters.

As a lifelong San Francisco native and Bayview resident, I try to support local and Black-owned businesses whenever I can. Yesterday, I did just that. Unfortunately, I was treated dismissively as a paying customer, given inconsistent information, and made to feel unseen—until my family arrived, when attitudes suddenly changed.

I even returned the next day to address it respectfully and privately. The owner chose not to speak with me.

This isn’t about tearing anyone down. It’s about accountability.

We live in a community with deep disparities, where unity, respect, and opportunity are critical. How we treat each other—especially strangers—matters. Businesses in our neighborhoods should be safe, welcoming spaces for everyone.

I left feeling sad more than anything. Sad that in a place where we should be building each other up, discrimination and poor treatment still exist.

I share this in hopes that we all do better—for our community, for our future, and for one another.

So I took the long way from Daly City over San Bruno Mtn and remembered I had seen this place walking home some other day and it looked so bright and fun from the outside so I had try it out. After my long hike I came in and was greeted with a smile by the bartender and what was maybe one of the owners? They were both lovely and treated me warmly and I really appreciated their kindness. The bartender made me a killer gin and juice of which I had two. I was recommended the whole fish of what type I do not remember but had seen pork chops on the menu and they had enticed me so I had those with the greens and yellow rice. I cleaned the plate. The chop was tender and juicy and covered in gravy, the greens were delicious, vinegary, salty and if I could have had more I would have and the yellow rice went nicely with all of the gravy.
I saw one of the other patrons had ordered the fish and after all that I wished I had ordered the fish because it looked delicious.
I was there for Monday night football and it was nice watching with other people and everyone was so nice. Oh and there was a DJ spinning great music. I normally like hearing what’s going on in the game but with the cool vibe and great beats it really didn’t matter.
I’ll definitely be back especially since it’s right over the hill…good food, good beats, good vibe and a friendly staff. Loved it.

The food and drinks here are delicious, but the music can get so overwhelmingly loud it makes it unbearable to sit down and enjoy it. A shame.

Food was good, I had the wings with fries, their lemon pepper seasoning is done very well. The menu is a little on the pricey side even for San Francisco standards given the location. Also they charged me for a double shot even though I never asked for one in my cocktail. Unfortunately I did not notice until I left. Would come back but check the receipt next time lol.

I waited 1hr 45 minutes almost 2 hours to get my order. I order 1 order of fish coleslaw and yams. And it wasn’t even busy in there. When I asked for my order they just ignore me. They were really quick to take my money. They didn’t even apologize or offer me anything to make up for it.
