Heard good things about 1942 so figured I would give it a try. Went for dinner with a group of 5 around 6p, they were moderately busy but we were able to get seated without a wait. I tried both the quesabirria and the Al pastor. I’m a big fan of birria tacos and thought these were good but could have used a little more cheese. As for the Al pastor, the flavor was okay but meat was somewhat dry. Chips were good but the salsa is fairly generic that every Ohio Mexican restaurant serves. As for the margs I thought the pineapple was really good, it even had some fruits chunks inside. Overall, If I was in the area and looking for tacos I would go again.

We heard so much about the quessabirria and we tried it. It wasn’t bad but my expectation was too high. The wuessabirria gets 4/5 while the remainig food items were much lower. Their salsa was sweet instead of spicy. The mexican flan dessert and street corn was very good tho

Great atmosphere at 1942 Tacos and Tequila in Downtown Cleveland! We enjoyed a delicious meal on a holiday evening, without a wait. The restaurant has a cool vibe with comfortable seating and unique lighting fixtures. The thick, crunchy chips and zesty salsa arrived within a few minutes and were a solid start.
The Quesabirria Tacos were the star of the show! The flavor was fantastic – rich and herby- although I would have preferred a crispier tortilla. The Shrimp Tacos were good but lacked in flavor.
The Long Island Iced Tea was well-made, but the Paloma, unfortunately, tasted more like a margarita and was very pale in color.
We appreciated the friendly service and the complimentary tequila shots! Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience with a lively atmosphere.

My wife and I went here for dinner during a weekend trip to Cleveland. I had the Authentic Chilies Rellenos and my wife had the Pollo con Crema. Both dishes were very very good and the prices weren’t bad at all. If you want really good Mexican the 1942 Tacos and Tequila is right for you. We will definitely be back.

Excellent Mexican food with a huge bar and friendly service. Extensive menu. Had the burrito bowl and it was great. But the standout was the take-out dinner of Tacos al Pastor with incredible sauces. As good as I have had. They prepared the take-out perfectly, including the sides. Highly recommended.

This place is a gem and the best place we ate at while in Ohio. We got 7 different meals and each one was fantastic. Every person loved what they had and couldn’t say enough about how fantastic the food was. The service was amazing, staff so friendly and attentive, turnaround was fast and so welcoming. I had the enchiladas and they were fantastic. The queso is delicious and the rice has a wonderful flavor. The place was very clean and had a festive and warm atmosphere. I wish we had more time here to go again, I will be dreaming about this place!

Great food and really good margaritas! I had the Happy hour special mango ones and they were not weak or watered down at all. Our service was great and we loved the decor! I tried the BBQ nachos just because they sounded different and they were really good! The street corn was different, but I’m generally not a corn fan so if that’s your thing give it a try! We also had the asada fries to go and they were awesome!

Almost kitschy, nearly rowdy, but in a tolerable way. House margaritas come with their own glowsticks in the glass. Food was okay. The chicken was overwhelming (large chunk of half-shredded underseasoned chicken) and tough on the chimichanga.

Pretty nice place. Very chill, but with some really good food. Love the patio seating. Chips and salsa were good and the rice was really yummy. The portion sizes were pretty big too. Overall, a nice place to get Mexican in Cleveland for lunch or dinner.
