But that is pretty much the only complaint I have. The dining area is beautiful and clean. The chairs and tables are high quality, comfortable, and elegant. They really help convey the idea that a delicious meal awaits. My wife ordered the New York steak and I ordered the steak melt. We also ordered a round of Blue Moons that were cold, tall, and perfectly garnished with oranges. But back to the food. If I was to describe our dinners in one word it would be simple: flavorful. In addition to the steak, the delicious sour dough bread paired with the blackberry jam just punched a really unique and yummy taste. My wife’s steak and mashed potatoes also left nothing to be desired when it came to the superb taste. At $62 it would have been nice for the steak to be a little more tender but the flavor wasn’t lacking.
Our server was Sara and she was very eager. She let us know about the menu and wasn’t shy about telling us her personal favorite menu items. We really appreciated that she asked if she could take a photo of us with my wife’s phone (we gladly accepted). Another memorable part of our visit was the complimentary chocolate dessert they brought out for my wife’s birthday. It was a wonderful way to conclude the meal. We would return to the 1898 Public House again but would hope they would offer a little more flexibility, especially if they don’t plan to adhere to their own standards.
The food was both thoughtfully presented and beautifully executed. The beer-battered fish and chips were crisp and refined, the New York steak was prepared exceptionally well, and the Signature Burger and Caprese Piadina were equally impressive. Desserts were a standout—the turtle cheesecake and crème brûlée were indulgent without being heavy. Cocktails were confidently poured, and the huckleberry lemonade was impossible to resist.
Zac elevated the entire experience. He was polished yet personable, attentive without being intrusive, and brought a natural warmth and wit that made the evening feel special. An excellent dining experience from start to finish—one we will gladly repeat.
There were lots of great menu items to choose from. The Wedge Salad was $14; chicken ($7) added. The Blackened Shrimp Cobb Salad was $17. We felt the prices were very reasonable.
The presentation of the food was beautiful and it was delicious. This was my first visit and I know I will return.
It was a hot day, but there were several golfers on the course. The views of the golf course were beautiful!
Creme Brulee for dessert!
