We finally made it to Sunday Sips. This summer has felt like a different state with all of the rain on the weekends. We have been to Hook and Ladder for happy hour and brunch. This was our first time in 1874. The bartender was great to allow me to create my preferred cocktail with bourbon. The bar is well- stocked with premium alcohol and beer on tap. The cocktails were pricier than we expected. I thought Sunday sips offered a discount on cocktails. Beer was $7. There is also a bucket with cans or bottles for a set price for larger groups. The live music ends at 4 withe event starting at 1. There is seating at the bar and plastic adirondack chairs on the artificial grass area. We had to search for chairs that were together. Some of the chairs were unsnapped. The plastic tables are available, but I would make sure chairs and tables are on level ground. Otherwise, food and drinks will be on the ground. Glasware is allowed on artificial grass, I would suggest carefully walking to the bar because some people left glassware on the grass. We did order from the bar menu. I did not feel there were enough options for appetizers. We usually have calamari and wings from most bar menus. Ww ordered the turkey blt and chicken sandwich with fries. The 5-hour turkey, tomato aioli, and bacon on sourdough were absolutely delicious. The sous vide turkey was moist and flavorful. The chicken sandwich received rave reviews on how good it was after every bite. It had to be the slaw and spicy aioli. We are planning to return to eat and pack our own beverages next time. The weather was better than forecasted, and that made for a relaxing night out.

I found Sunday Sips Summer 2024. Love the live music they have on Sundays for about half the year, weather dependent.

Their truffle fries are wonderful! I love how they taste. Make for a great app or to be the side for the crab cake sandwich.

Overall, the staff is wonderful. The live music they find is great for Sunday Sips. Such a great spot for Sundays and when you need to feel fancy without going downtown.

I highly recommend the burger & fries! The fries were cooked to perfection! Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside! The burger was thick & juicy. It was prepared with cooper sharp cheese, carmelized onions, truffle aioli and arugula. One of the most flavorful burgers I’ve had. Overall 11/10!

Came in on a rainy weekday and Cam the bartender made the prettiest/best whiskey sour i’ve ever had in my life. Never would have expected a hotel bar to have such amazing drinks. Can’t wait to back !!!

UPDATE: went from 5 to 1 stars….they got rid of the only reason we would come here :/ the coolest/best bartender who made good drinks now everything is mid

Came here for a “happy hour” with friends but was disappointed to find they don’t have a happy hour (aka: discounted) menu. There isn’t one advertised on the website in the menus section, but one did come up when searching Google so just be aware it’s outdated. There is a happy hour at the bar upstairs, but you kind of have to stay there if you’re going to partake in it, they won’t deliver to you on the green space.

That said, being able to order at a bar then sit in Adirondack chairs (albeit, mine was broken, woops) on a lawn and chat with friends was a nice check in the “vibes” box for me. On a Wednesday in September it was not crowded at all.

We ordered food and drink at the bar and they delivered it to us outdoors. I ordered the chicken sandwich and a yuengling ($20 total) and the chicken sandwich was super crispy! I liked it.

I think perhaps coming for the music on Sundays would be nice. During the week though I would much prefer a happy hour menu and would probably go check out somewhere else. :/

I came here for happy hour on a weeknight. The crab dip and wine was very good. I will caution— because the location only has one liquor license, discounted alcohol like HH specials are only available upstairs at Hook and Ladder. I still enjoyed my time and loved the vibe in the courtyard when they opened up the doors on a nice day

The atmosphere is nice but it’s very expensive to be your own server. I can’t believe they get away with these prices to serve yourself. Then the bartenders seem to not understand basic things. For example the card you put to hold it isn’t the card you run for the entire tab. He even said at the beginning yes you can split at the end then seemed to forget and ran it all when we simply asked for the tab, not for it to be run. I was a server for many years and it’s fascinating to me now I go out to pay a fortune yet serve myself and the one job they have is to run the tab and that isn’t done correctly. There’s a difference between can we have the tab versus run the tab. It’s common sense we’d want to to see it first. Until they get a server and bartenders with sense I won’t be back and I’d tell people to avoid this spot. Point of going out is to be waited on, not wait on yourself. We also spend 240 dollars. I’m out to spend money and have a nice experience. I spent the money, but the experience was lousy.

Beautiful lounge in Hotel West. It’s pretty tiny. But when the weather is nice, they have the garage doors up and there’s seating outside. It’s pub style, order everything at the bar. No sit down service. Got a charcuterie board for $16, pretty good. Great spot for a chill night out, just a bit pricey.

I had lunch here with my cousin, who was in town for a conference. On paper, the lunch menu had some good options but the food was mediocre, unfortunately. I ordered the wild mushroom soup and the texture was…interesting. It was lumpy and likely heated in a microwave. It supposed to come with garlic bread which was never served to me.

The service wasn’t great either. The server who waited on us was inattentive and acted like she didn’t want to be there. I had to go up to the register at the bar to pay the bill because she couldn’t be bothered to pull herself away from chatting with her coworker to come over to the table to pick it up herself to ring it up.

Very disappointing and a waste of money. I won’t be back.
