This restaurant is the definition of being an excellent taste, with excellent price and with an incredible environment. It is located in a quite antique building that gives the place a very unique feeling. The food is simply spectacular and the service is incredibly friendly and familiar. Please, if you are in KC, this place is worth the ≈ 30 min drive. They have a unique special dish everyday and it is delightful and hardly ever repeats.

A Tonganoxie gem! First time here, I ordered the 8 oz sirloin with a salad and seasonal vegetables. Excellent steak, no need for any steak sauce, this steak was very delicious and cooked to my preference, medium-rare. Salad dressing was a very thick, creamy Caesar which was quite exceptional. Also had coffee, brewed strong and a delicious blend.

Service, very professional, I appreciated that my salad was served prior to the arrival of the main course. Server allowed time for a pleasant dining experience, no feeling of being rushed.

Atmosphere, quiet and relaxing. Nice decor. Will definitely be dining here again.

Very warm and welcoming atmosphere. Feels like an old pub from England. The food was great and the server was spot on with the service. Reasonably priced for the quality of food and service! 6:00pm on a Friday and there were tables available.

I catered a small group very last minute and the staff was very accommodating. They did not make me wait for another day, he made sure it was hot and ready for my staffs dinner. When I went to pick the food up at the time I was told it would be ready for me it was right on time. They provided everything we needed. It’s a cozy place even though we dined out. The food was excellent and I will be back with my family.

A pleasant lunch experience, good service and the food was fresh prepared and exactly as ordered. The wait staff and owner were very happy to answer questions and all seemed to be enjoying being there, kind of rare these days.

Treasure in Tonganoxie.
Great food and even better service. We were very pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant of this quality in Tonganoxie(no disrespect intended). Party of 10 and everyone was very happy with their choices. We will definitely eat here again if in the neighborhood.

Great little bar & grill smack in the middle of downtown Tonganoxie. Always have good food and the staff is always friendly. Glad to have a place like 1866 in town to grab a meal and hang out at for a while.

1866 was a long time ago. But this restaurant, when you enter the doors you enter the year 1866.
The year 1866 was marked by significant events in the United States, including the completion of the second United States Capitol dome, the establishment of Fisk University, and the founding of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. It also saw the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1866, the discovery of the Calaveras Skull, and the Great Fire of Portland, Maine. These events reflect the political, social, and cultural changes occurring in the United States during that time.

honestly now that I think of it this restaurant has nothing to do with the year 1866, but hey, they have good nachos! Try the nachos.

the food we got was alright, we both got pasta but the sauce was a bit more watery than we are use to. we are definitely willing to come and try other food but won’t get the same thing again.
staff was all very friendly and attentive.
