First off, this place has an almost speakeasy style to it and I am all about that. The entrance is in the back and down stairs from the ground level. Close enough to a speakeasy for me. We didn’t have a reservation, so we sat at the bar. Probably going to make a reservation next time, but still… not bad.

1861 is AMAZING! Our server, Sally, was awesome. She was very attentive, provided great recommendations, and showed her knowledge of the menu and establishment. The food was sooo good! The cornbread is a must-try! Smac & Cheese – GET IT!! The sweet chilli garlic wings – can’t pass these up!! Chicken & Waffles – don’t get me started! Also had the Smoked Old Fashioned. This was brought to our table and smoked right in front of us. This added so much to the experience! The speakeasy vibes of this place are AMAZING and we’ll definitely be returning!

My first time dinning here and it was spectacular, everything was prepared perfectly. The atmosphere was great, our server Murphy was Phenomenal. I enjoyed the Soul Bowl and my friend had the burger, we also tried the wings and cornbread skillet. I will be returning for sure.

We came here for brunch and were amazed! The beignets with peaches we had were a super sweet start to a great meal. We also go the fried catfish and buttermilk chicken biscuits with sausage gravy. Both were exactly the savory dishes we were hoping for. We also had a couple of excellent cocktails. The lattes and bellini were both great brunch cocktails. There is also a great selection of bourbons. I cannot heap enough praise on this place. If you are in Middletown you have to try it out.
