Great waitstaff and service. My French Onion soup was quite good, and I found my wife’s tomato soup tasty as well. She prefers her soup less creamy, so it tastes more tomato-y, but I liked it just fine. Main meal was the Scottish Salmon, and it was phenomenally flaky, crispy, and done proper. Delicious. My wife’s Planked Whitefish was awesome, and the torched mashed potatoes were perfect.

We truly enjoyed the 1852 Grill Room. so much that we ate there 3 times while on the island. Even breakfast was delicious. My wife said she was impressed with how good they could make a simple breakfast taste amazing. I recommend the Smash Burger! A truly great burger. We had a phenomenal server, Eddie. Eddie combines his great personality with high class service to make the whole experience truly fancy.

Excellent dinner experience! Appetizers were done perfect. Shrimp was made fresh and was wonderful. Bread board was delicious. Had an Old Fashioned make right! Filet was fantastic. Too bad we didn’t have room for dessert! The best dinner we had on the island. We will definitely be back.

We just had the most enjoyable dinner here. This is our third visit to Mackinac Island, but our first visit to Island House Hotel. Everything was perfect- our food was delicious, our server Beth was so kind, and the atmosphere was just lovely with the piano music!!! A+

We had a beautiful dinner and outstanding service. This dining room is really beautiful and we enjoyed the pianist. I’m sorry to say that I forgot my server’s name, but he did an outstanding job. I enjoyed talking about Miami and meeting his brother and sister in law.

Regarding the food at the 1852 Grill Room, I really can’t add anything that hasn’t already been said. This is an excellent place to eat. We enjoyed breakfast there three times this trip. This review is about one thing, and that was our waiter on the morning of July 20th; that was Joe. He was courteous, efficient, and attentive. And then it got *better*. My wife and I are an older couple, and we have an 8yo daughter who loves chocolate milk.

The Island House breakfast is something we look forward to every year when we visit Mackinac Island. The venue is one of the best on the Island. Sitting inside or out the view is exceptional. The food is always fresh and cooked to perfection, and service is attentive. Our server this year was Joe, and although new to this restaurant, a talented and friendly veteran in the hospitality industry. This is a place to go out of your way to visit. Bon appetit.

The atmosphere was great – there are big, beautiful picture windows that overlook the waterfront. The thing we probably enjoyed the most about the atmosphere was the live piano player. It’s something that you don’t see too often and really made for a very pleasant atmosphere. Staff was awesome as well.
