This was our first time here. At first we weren’t sure where to go when we went downstairs so we just went to the bar and were greeted by the nicest older gentleman who got the attention of a waitress. We were early for our reservation but they cleared a table for us and walked us over.
We had the nicest, informative, and professional waitress who went over the menu and the evening specials. Karen was a delight! We ordered a bottle of wine, I had a salad and my wife had the butternut squash. The lemon basil salad dressing was home made and was amazing!
I had the prime rib which was cooked to my liking. Medium was perfect for me. It came with carrots and mashed potatoes. It also came with a side of au jus and horseradish. Not horseradish sauce sadly. Just horseradish. The prime rib was thin, however had great flavor and I’d order it again.
My Wife has the salmon roulade. Soooo good!
We had crème brûlée for dessert.
Overall it was a great night out. Great atmosphere! It reminded me of my favorite restaurant in Gettysburg, the Dobbin House.
We will definitely be back!

The service and food was amazing! It was such a relaxing dinner and the Blackened Prime Rib was amazing! The gas fire place was so warm and overall a great atmosphere.

My wife and I had a wonderful time at the 1844 restaurant yesterday 7-2-22 celebrating our 34 wedding anniversary. The meal we were served was excellent and the ambiance quaint and charming. Both of us where wanting a very relaxed and quiet dinner and we we’re not disappointed. The staff was pleasant and accommodating and we got our appetizers, salads and entrees very quickly. Both of us were very pleased with the evening we spent there and would like to once again share our compliments to the chef as well as the owner of the establishment and our waitress for marvelous anniversary meal. I would reccomend the 1844 restaurant to all who wish to have a delicious meal in a quaint country setting away from the hustle and bustle of the city anytime. We do plan on visiting again hopefully in the near future! And I do suggest the Crem brulee and the New York cheesecake with raspberry topping for desert!

I hope to never change my mind about this place. Ive been coming here for about 20 years, now it is by far the best it’s ever been. My husband and I dined here about 2 weeks ago and it had been a few years since we had been here. At first I had sticker shock by the prices of meals, I didn’t remember it being that much. I ordered the prime rib and blackened swordfish, my husband had a filet and lobster tail. They came with delicious steamed carrots that had a hint of natural sweetness and rustic lumpy smashed potatoes. EVERYTHING was exquisite ❤ We can not wait to go back and take friends and family here!

My fiance and I went here for Valentines Day Dinner. Service was amazing and fast and the atmosphere of the restaurant was perfect. Not to loud with some jazz music in the background which really set a amazing vibe. For our stater we ordered a salad and some meatballs. And let me tell you, those were the juiciest and most flavorful meatballs i have tasted in a long time and my fiance would agree. And the salad was fresh and flavorful. Then for our main course we both got filet with mash potatoes and veggies. The filets were cooked perfectly and had a juicy and flavorful taste aswell as the veggies. For desert we got some crème brûlée. which was not only perfectly toasted but had some fruit on top adding a sweet and tangy touch. Our waitress Bailey was polite, kind, and extremely fast when getting our food and drinks. Overall this was a great dining experience and me and fiance will definitely be back ready to try the wide variety of delicious food another time.

this place was AMAZING. me and my friends went for a anniversary party and the salmon was amazing. the cornbread was to die for, very moist and tasty. the lobster tail was the table’s favorite. my best friend went insane for it and wanted more. the service was amazing as well. Karen is one of the best servers i’ve had of all time. she was very polite and quick. our table had a blast and we will definitely be back soon!

I was so excited to try their meatballs!! And they were a little disappointing. Very, very dry. The sauce was the most freshest red sauce I ever ate, though so it made up for the dryness.
The crab cake easily fell apart, to reveal a not very hot mayo based crab salad inside.
The smashed potatoes were great, the carrots were good, but a little underdone for me.
The blackened prime rib was the star of the meal, and it was cooked perfectly.!
But the wine menu is waaaayyy overpriced. Got charged thirty dollars for a ten dollar bottle of wine.
The berry sauce that was drizzled over the cheesecake was just something prepackaged and bought. For a fine dining experience, I would expect a homemade berry reduction. But what do I know.
Oh and coffee isn’t in the menu but they do offer coffee and espresso.
The staff was very very friendly.
