There is a *very* special section far down below for businesses that charge customers a mandatory service fee APART from a tip. This forces the customer to do the EMPLOYER’S job of keeping their employees paid (on top of a tip). At least that’s what we truly hope the service fee goes towards. I have to pay a fee for them bringing me the food I am paying AND tipping for? Predatory! Just bake everything into the price and I’ll decide when I look at the menu if I’d like to pass or not!

Other things to note: my soft crab roll was breaded so much with so little crab actually inside that when I bit into it I thought I had ordered a toast roll. It was deep fried so long I was basically crunching on white rice and crispy bread with a hint of crab flavor. Horrid. I left 6/8 rolls on the plate because I couldn’t force it anymore. To their credit, they removed it from my bill.

My experience today was disappointing, and that’s me putting it nicely. There are far better sushi options in Baltimore city that don’t sneak hidden, predatory fees into your bill. I won’t be back!

The food was delicious. The seaweed salad was very fresh, Tokyo roll was very spicy but very good. Service was wonderful, lovely atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back.

Came here on a Friday after work (around 7pm) and there was a nice moderate crowd. I was a little alarmed by the kid directing us to the bar area for a seat, but its a family business and he was very good at his job! The sushi is divine!! It’s a great size portion and reasonably priced. The drinks are beautiful, not too strong, and you can still taste your liquor while enjoying the additional flavors. Every ingredient is listed in the menu along with accurate pictures, which is a great help in case you have allergies or are used to ordering one thing and it comes out looking like another. They have tvs and play a mixed genre of music. The gentleman beside us came alone and happily enjoyed a glass of wine and watched the Orioles baseball game. This place is a little slice of heaven. Great energy, and a lovely place to strike conversations should you come alone. They also have take out. I had an excellent experience here and I am definitely coming back for more!

Mango salad was delicious. I could probably eat it a few times a week. They give a decent amount of food for the price point. This will probably be my go to for rolls!

Fresh sushi, with slight sense of fusion (with fresh tricolor included in sushi). Good portion size. Were the only guest no problem with service.

Ok. It just opened, so I will revisit. The sushi here is good. It isn’t the greatest, or the biggest, or even the best. But it is good. The staff was super nice and attentive! I really enjoyed them. We had a couple drinks, which were regular priced. Two special rolls, and a couple regular rolls. Oh one of our regular rolls was a fried sweet potato roll it was easily one of the best plain ole veggie rolls I’ve ever had. Oh, a problem with many newer restaurants was also a problem here. The music was just some really boring and annoying “mall” music. I hate that regular mall style music soooo much.

Love this sushi place. The food is consistently great. The menu is creative and the service is friendly. The only issue is not a big deal as much as it is an oddity. On a random Monday evening they were playing bizarre EDM music and MMA fights were on the huge TVs. (I like MMA and EDM but eating sushi with bleeding bodies on the screen and a DJ mix of Dance Monkey in the background was strange!)

Stopped here for a quick bite, sat at the bar with my partner. It took a while to move every step, from ordering to closing the tab. It wasn’t very crowded inside but I could tell they were slammed with takeout orders and noticed many people waiting a while for that. Certainly seemed short staffed. From sitting at the bar it took about 20+ minutes to get an order of seaweed salad that we ordered as an app.

However, the food was great. Fresh, plentiful, and tasty. Very unique special rolls which I’d like to try more of. And staff were generally pleasant.

There’s a lot going on inside — it’s super bright, the decor makes little sense, stacked bar, too much music and clutter. Kinda reminded me of an airport restaurant.

18-8 Sushi is new in the area, and is a welcome addition. A little more “upscale” feeling than nearby Yama sushi, much like the rest of the new Rotunda businesses. A large bar, and modern styling inside.

Staff was excited, attentive, and helpful.

I ordered the shumai (steamed shrimp dumplings). They came out hot, well made, and with great texture. There were large pieces of shrimp in the dumpling, which was a welcome addition to the normal ground shrimp in most shumai.

My lunch was 4 pieces of sushi (Tomago, Striped Bass, Freshwater Eel, and Yellowtail). At $3 per piece, the pieces were on the small side, but very high quality. Fresh. Tasty. Tried to order Spanish Mackeral and Red Snapper – but supply was an issue. Not upset as no fish is better than old fish.

The rolls ordered were Secret Lover and Fire Island. Both well made with very fresh ingredients. Only complaint with the Secret Lover was the jalepeno was laid on top and easily fell off – also the jalepeno was not seeded, so of you aren’t expecting that extra heat or texture, beware! The rolls were definitely on the small side, with Yama, Nanami, and Sticky Rice all featuring much larger special rolls. If you normally eat two rolls, think of ordering a third here.

While small, all the food was tasty, and came to a total of $48, only ordering water to drink. Not the best value for the meal – but still a great addition to the Rotunda and a great date location to enioy well made sushi and a few drinks from their bar.
