My parents and I went for Sunday brunch in June and this place was incredible. The ambiance is awesome by itself and its story is pretty cool. I don’t think we were expecting a buffet and when I walked in and saw the crab leg clusters … it was all over. I personally enjoyed a little bit of most tastes; my mom loved her waffle. My dad went straight for the omelet order and I thought he was being facetious when he circled everything – he was not, it came out fully loaded. And then he ordered a waffle which I’ve never seen him do and he practically moaned with happiness with each bite. We enjoyed our food immensely and the service was just as incredible. And it wasn’t just us – everyone around us was smiling and laughing and just enjoying themselves. Great place,

We went for the Sunday buffet brunch. They’re were a number of items to choose from, including salmon, fried chicken, mac and cheese, prime rib, soup, brussel sprouts, cheese grits. Taco fixings, shrimp, etc. Each was cooked to prefection and absolutely delicious. You can tell the chef knows what he is doing! They also offer omelets to order from your table, as well as Belgian waffles, ordered from your table as well. The waffles were the best I think I’ve had anywhere. There was a live jazz band, and a very good one at that. Apparently they have the band on only the first Sunday of the month so we were in luck. All of the staff were extremely friendly, helpful and attentive. We were trying to take advantage of a $50 credit we received by signing up for a restaurant rewards program and were going to order extra food al la carte but they only had the brunch available so we couldn’t use the reward. However they were extreme nice about it and I think three different people apologized for the situation. I won’t fault them for that but I would mention two small negatives to the whole experience… there was no bread available whatsoever. No rolls, toast, croissants, etc., so if you like toast or bread with your omelet you are out of luck. The other negative is that the desserts were very limited and nothing to write home about so maybe their pastry chef was off that day. I didn’t remove a star, however, because honestly I was too full to care and overall the experience was excellent.

Ok this place is amazing!!!! First time going and def will not be the last … my first impression was the entrance was weird the door says bar entrance and a small ally way says restaurant and offices but you actually enter through the bar … but if that the only complaint i can deal! Our server was Abraham and he was amazing keep led our drink full and had great knowledge of the specials and the rest of the menu. Food came out quickly and everything was prepared to the perfect temperature!!! I HIGHLY recommend you will not be disappointed…

Bartender /Server: Reuben was so courteous and friendly helping us with our drink orders and options on dishes. Drinks was so good and the food so delicious. I want to give a s/o to: Justin Abraham as well he wanted to know did we enjoy ourselves and he was so friendly. I will definitely be back. I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good food and drinks and dessert.

I’ve been here about 10 times now. I bring everybody here to experience the greatness. Not to mention it’s black owned and the history behind 1799. The food always hit. The staff is always friendly. I have people still telling me how this was the best restaurant ever. The blackened shrimp, chicken wings, salmon, steak, crab cakes are all delicious

The service here is impeccable. We felt welcomed immediately, from the greetings to the coat check. The manager’s quick fix of our wobbly table showed great attention to detail. The service team was excellent—fast food, swift clearing of dishes, and consistently full water glasses. An all-around wonderful experience; we’ll definitely be back.

The food was very delicious along with the drinks were had. Both my husband and I had the 6oz filet mignon and side which were ala carte to accompany them. The steaks were cooked to our preference and the waiter asked us to cut into them ensure we were satisfied with the steaks. They were seasoned well along with the sides which were so good (au gratin potatoes and roasted Brussels sprouts). The fried green tomorrow as an appetizer were so good I forgot to take a picture when we first received them but everything on that plate was delicious. O had one of their fall drinks which was a caramel apple spritzer and it tasted amazing. My husband had a peach drink, I can’t remember the name but that was really good as well. I will definitely return to this restaurant.

I found the atmosphere to be laid back, and the drinks were great.
I had the oysters Rockefeller, and it was delicious.. My entre was the Szechuan Salmon, which was delicious, and pappardelle colognes, and the ny strip.. their steaks SEVERLY lack seasoning (salt, pepper, garlic) and i wouldn’t order it again.. overall, for such a pricey menu, I expected better ( total for my table was $690)..

I’ve been to this place twice and it was far better the first time over the second. I would have given it a 4 star but both my steak and my friends were overcooked. I came here with a group of six people to celebrate my friends birthday and then came here again to celebrate another occasion more recently. We sat outside the second time in the service was average, when sitting inside the service was much better. I got the fillet both times, the second time it was overcooked verging on well done versus the medium rare I ordered. The brussel sprouts were very good, the potatoes au gratin were average. It was restaurant week the second time I was there so it was a bit busier than normal but we didn’t order anything off of the restaurant menu. Overall, I was disappointed in the quality of the meat, it was overcooked and way too salty. I love the history of this place and the overall atmosphere is really cool but for the price they need to up their quality.
