Most of what I’ve read in the negative reviews here is spot on. There were so many issues with our party of 9 (friend’s birthday) dinner Friday Jan 30, it would be too much to type it all here. But to summarize- Service was severely lacking, even as the place was nearly empty. Food was generally mediocre, most dishes lacked flavor, seasoning. In Louisiana, that’s especially unacceptable. Only the person who ordered the burger said it was “very good.” It took extremely long to get any drinks, and even the waters came just before the entrees- 30-40 minutes after being seated. The server would completely disappear for 15 minutes at a time. The one thing that really stands out about this experience is the music incident. For the first 20-30 minutes (730pm – 8pm?) the music was at a perfect volume. We were able to have conversation at the table, but could hear it well. Then suddenly it was turned up to a blaring nightclub level, so loud that we couldn’t possibly even talk to the person beside us. Someone in our party went ask the bartender to have it turned back down. He obviously was receiving significant push-back and refusal at first. But when he said our table of 9 would have to cancel all our orders and leave, they eventually complied and lowered the volume. This is absolutely unacceptable for a “restaurant.” We will not return here.

Food: Gumbo was delicious. I should’ve ordered a bowl. They were out of crackers, but the buttered bread we were given was the better alternative. We ordered the steak and lobster special for $20, and you get what you pay for. The lobster and butter was as expected and the corn was average. The steak was disappointing. It was well seasoned and cooked properly, but it was a poor cut of meat; it was hard to cut, chew, and swallow due to the amount of fat in the meat. We ordered dessert to go.
Service: incredibly slow. We arrived at 7:20 for a 7:45 reservation with 5 people in front of us. We didn’t speak too the hostess until 7:45. We didn’t receive our drinks until 8:15. We left at 9:30 asking for dessert to go. Despite being short staffed, the ONE waitress and ONE bartender were trying their best, maintaining good customer service the entire shift. Explaining at the hostess desk you’re short staffed would’ve benefited everyone.
Atmosphere: absolutely beautiful. Gentle lighting, right on the water. Multiple screens to view your favorite past times. You don’t have to speak louder than a whisper to hear across the table.
Overall, until the staff shortage is fixed, we don’t see ourselves dining in again. But we might order another gumbo to go next time we’re in the area.

1 Star – Disappointing Valentine’s Day Experience
We attended the Violinist vs. DJ event at 1717 on Valentine’s Day, and unfortunately, the experience was far from what we expected—especially after paying $124 for a table.
To start, we ordered wings and they were actually good. That was probably one of the only positives of the night. The entertainment — the violinist vs. DJ — was truly the only bright spot of the evening and the one thing that lived up to the hype.
However, when I tried to order a draft beer, our server told me all of the drafts were down due to a “foam issue.” That didn’t sit right with me. I went to the bar myself and was able to get a draft amber. The bartender mentioned the others were “hot,” which raised even more questions. It’s hard to understand how draft beer issues wouldn’t be handled before hosting a paid Valentine’s Day event.
After that interaction, the service noticeably changed. Our server barely checked on us and didn’t return to the table for about 20 minutes. We were ready to order a second round of wings along with fries, but were told fries could only be ordered with the pub beef sliders. That restriction made no sense and felt unnecessarily limiting and frustrating.
Overall, the experience felt disorganized and misleading. After looking up the restaurant’s 3.2 rating, it honestly made more sense. My expectations were clearly too high. For the price and the occasion, this was extremely disappointing.
We will not be returning.

Here for an event. Performance was great but service was trash! Was first told by server that they weren’t serving draft beer tonight because “it took too long”, later told that draft beer was messed up, again told that “beer was out” Ended up going to bar to purchase said draft beer. Be so forreal. Attempted to order fries… told can’t order side of fries must purchase sliders. Really odd considering there was only one other vegetarian option on menu.
Deep sigh. Has potential but unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be back to experience it.

We ate are our Thanksgiving meal here, and it was fabulous! Our server was attentive and kind, and the food was delicious. The turkey was moist and tasty, and everything else was very good—sweet potato casserole was some of the best we’ve ever had—cranberry sauce tasted homemade—green beans were good—pumpkin bread pudding stole the show!! Our compliments to the chef!! Thank you!

We arrived for lunch and the restaurant was largely empty so after ordering two glasses of wine and club sandwiches, I was really surprised that after 20 minutes our drinks still hadn’t arrived. When I asked our server to gestured to the bar and said “she’s making it.” After five more minutes our wine arrived.
When our food arrived it made up for the slow service. Really delicious club sandwiches and tasty fries. The wine selection is limited but contains some good selections at reasonable prices.
I’m in this casino’s top tier and was interested to try this restaurant. I think it has potential but they need to put more staff into it. Two bartenders for sure. Our waitress was very nice and apologized for the drink delay.

The brisket poboy was underwhelming. The flavor could have been kicked up a notch. The brussels sprouts had too much bacon in them, causing them to be excessively greasy. I enjoyed my drink and the wings were ok.

There were a number of issues my party and I encountered at the venue. To begin, when we approached the hostess stand, the hostess informed us that was her first day. Next, we were escorted to an unclean table. Thirdly, we waited over 5 minutes to be greeted by our server. One person in my party asked for a glass of water, she had to ask for it two more times before she received it. Also, we weren’t provided utensils; therefore, we had to ask for utensils even though our food was brought to the table. Shockingly, the manager on duty never walked around and greeted our table.

The food is decent at best, never got a refill or checked on. I requested just salt and pepper on my steak and still got a ton of herbs on it. My wife’s fish and chips had so much batter that it wasn’t even cooked through on the inside. Save your money.
